Speaker 1: Greetings, colleagues. I'm glad to be able to bring you this message as we continue our work to reach the goals of Destination 2025. A wise person once said, the secret to success is working together. At the very heart of collaborative planning lies this important point. We must work together to succeed. As you know, our overarching goal this year is 100% of our schools will implement the curriculum with fidelity. And we believe collaborative planning is essential in helping us to meet this goal. That's why we felt it was important that today's message focus on a more detailed explanation of what it is and how it will help drive student achievement. The purpose of collaborative planning is to provide teachers with a structured time and space to come together with colleagues in order to develop an understanding of curriculum materials, create high quality lessons, practice delivering parts of a lesson, receive constructive feedback, and review practices with colleagues. We recognize collaborative planning may be a new way of engaging in the work for some teachers and school leaders. That's why we are placing an intensive, specific focus on planning collaboratively. Since this year, we are implementing a new and more rigorous curriculum in ELA and math, we want to be intentional in ensuring teachers and administrators are engaging in a way that ensures effective planning is taking place. Companion guides for ELA and math provide very structured, focused steps for planning. And we strongly believe the resources found in the companion guides will help teachers and leaders plan more effectively. In order to give further guidance and support, we have created a collaborative planning document which clearly articulates the why and the how of planning collaboratively. While we realize collaborative planning sessions will look different across schools based on the structures and teacher needs within each school, the most important thing to remember is that we are all in a learning mode. Planning is not just the job of the teacher, but instead it is a collaborative effort of both teachers and administrators. Our 110,000 students are counting on us each and every day to provide them with learning experiences that will prepare them for college and career opportunities.
