[00:00:00] Speaker 1: Well I can say that a year ago I could not have even imagined how how terrible the enforcement of this new immigration stance would be. The very things that I said that we feared has come to pass, most extremely in what we've seen in Minnesota in the last few weeks.

[00:00:26] Speaker 2: That's Bishop Marianne Buddy who famously used her prayer during President Trump's inaugural prayer service last year to plead with him to have mercy with immigrants.

[00:00:36] Speaker 3: I talked to her today. Here's what she said. We all realize that we need to have a sound immigration policy.

[00:00:41] Speaker 1: We need to have a safe border. We need to have laws that protect us from violent crime. But I would argue that in the name of protecting us from violence, a whole swath of people are being cast in those terms in an attempt to eliminate, it seems, to eliminate people who do not fit a particular vision of what it means to be an American or to be welcome in this country. And I think that's what is at question now.

[00:01:14] Speaker 2: What's interesting about Bishop Buddy is that she lived in Minneapolis for 18 years. She was a religious leader there. She raised her family there. And just last week, she went to Minneapolis to hold a multi-faith prayer service about what's happening on the ground.
