Speaker 1: If you're looking to grow your audience online through video, increase your search rankings, increase your views, increase your subscriber count, and get access to a new global audience, then subtitles are an awesome tool to do it. Now there's a ton of options to get your subtitles prepared, but in this video we're going to look at the best option that we've found to get high quality subtitles prepared and automatically uploaded to your YouTube channel to save you a ton of time. So in an environment where the amount of video that's getting uploaded every day is just completely astronomical, you need to do everything you can to make your video stand out and hit the top of the search results or at least come as close as possible. Now that means eking out every last drop you can from YouTube's search algorithm and Google's so that you can give your video the best chance of succeeding. Now of course it's hard to know exactly how Google and YouTube are weighting their search algorithm, but what's clear is that they're definitely indexing closed caption or subtitle files on your video. So that means by getting these subtitles or your closed caption files prepared, you're increasing the amount of search terms you have assigned to a specific video exponentially. Looking around online, different sources have pinned the impact on search results of having closed caption files versus not having them anywhere between 4 and 15%, which when you extrapolate that over a large number of videos is a pretty significant advantage. And not even considering the fact that that extra 15% on one video could have meant an extra 500 subscribers or 1,000 subscribers or 2,000 subscribers that then compounds on the next video and the next and the next. I think the best part about subtitles is that you can actually go back and retrospectively apply them to your old videos as well. So if you've got popular videos that are performing well, try putting some subtitles on there, test them out for a couple of months, see if they excel or if they increase from their existing position. And by the same token, look at some of your lower performing videos. But I know from testing on our own videos that we've seen anywhere from 10 to 15% increases pretty quickly after getting those subtitles on there. So you know the advantages, you know why you should be doing it. Let's look at how to get them done. Now, there's a ton of options out there when it comes to getting your subtitles prepared, ranging from free software to paid software to paid online services. Now, personally, I think we found that the software options just weren't cutting it in terms of quality. The subtitles that were being prepared were wrong and it was taking too much manual work to upload them and correct them. So the paid services is really where we got to. Now, even when it comes to paid services, there's a heap of different options ranging from as low as $1 per minute all the way up to $7 or $10 plus. And we've tested a heap of them. But the one we're going to run through today lets you get your subtitles up in just five simple steps and it's not going to break the bank. Let's take a look. So there's a few different options when it comes to paid online services for subtitles. Rev.com is one of the more popular ones and so is 3Play Media. Now, each of these have different pricing structures. 3Play Media here is coming in around $3 a minute for English captioning and transcription. And if we look at Rev.com, that's sitting at around $1 per minute for captions. Now, the one we're going to go with today is Rev.com and that's the one we actually use at Promo Video as well. Sort of bang for your buck, they're really hard to beat. So let's jump in and do a test. So first, you're going to want to create an account or log in up here if you already have one. Just hit sign in and then enter your details or create an account over here and hit log in. So once you log in, you'll see the dashboard here. You can see the order history, so these are previous orders that we've made. Then you can place a new order up here using this place new order button. So go ahead and click that and pick captions. So step two is to tell Rev.com which video you want it to transcribe and prepare subtitles for. Now, you've got a few different options to choose from ranging from uploading the file directly from your computer to sharing a direct link or a web address and just dumping a URL in there. Or what we're going to do is integrate with our YouTube channel. So by going through this method here, Rev.com will actually take a look at the YouTube channel, see all the videos you have that don't currently have subtitles and allow you to purchase subtitles for those. Now, the advantage of using this option as well is that Rev.com can automatically put the subtitles back onto that YouTube video as soon as they've finished preparing them. So it saves you that additional headache of having to log in, download the subtitle file and then upload it again to YouTube, which can be a big time saver, especially if you're doing a lot of different videos. So step two is to finish linking your YouTube channel to Rev.com. First time you hit this button, it's going to ask you to log in with your Google username and password and then select which YouTube channel you'd like to link across to Rev. And then once you've done that, hit the button and we'll go ahead into step three, which is to select the videos that we want Rev.com to prepare subtitles for. So what we've got here is a list of all of the videos that we have on our YouTube channel. You can search for all the ones up here. Otherwise, you can see the more recent ones in the first menu down here. Now you can see this little red CC button here, which basically indicates videos that already have closed captions assigned to them. So we've got one here that doesn't. But let's select this option over here. Only show videos without a caption file. Now that'll obviously hide any of those videos that already have closed captions. So we can figure out which videos we want to assign captions to. Now let's go ahead and pick a couple here. So let's go with this DJI Osmo video and my last video, which was filming videos with iPhone. And then once you've selected your videos, you hit add selected to cart. So step four is also pretty simple. All we're going to do is just reconfirm here. So you can see it's five minutes at $1 a minute. So $5 for that one and rounding up to five minutes on this one here as well. So that's $10 in total. Now what you're going to want to make sure you've got ticked is this automatically deliver captions back to YouTube. That means that Rev will automatically upload the caption files onto your YouTube video. So you don't have to go back in and download the file and upload them manually to each YouTube video, which is really handy. It saves a heap of time. So once you're happy with your selection, you can either add more here or you can complete step four and just hit that checkout button. Now you can pay with a credit card or PayPal. We'll jump through PayPal on this one. So once you've hit pay, it's going to come back and process your order. And then you'll get the confirmation page here. Now these subtitles, you can expect them back and to be up on your channel within 24 hours each. So it's a really quick turnaround as well. That's it, four steps to get those subtitles ordered. And when the captions are done, you're going to see an email come in just like this one. This is from a previous order that we placed. But basically it's just letting us know that the caption file is ready. The entire order is completed. Step five, if you would like the SRT file to upload to other platforms like Facebook or Vimeo or any other platform that supports subtitles, then you can just go ahead and hit the download button here. And you've got that SRT file ready to go and share on any of your other platforms. So that's it, five simple steps. Now if we jump over to YouTube, head into the video manager and go to that last video. Let's say this Final Cut vs Premiere one. So we can jump into that video. And you can see here, this is the one that's come in from Rev there. So there you have it, easy way to get your subtitles prepared in just five simple steps.
