Speaker 1: We've been one of the top healthcare builders for 40 years, 40 plus years.

Speaker 2: Being a healthcare builder is important to McCarthy as a company because we know that the needs for healthcare are growing every day.

Speaker 1: We like to say that we don't just build what people want, we build what people need.

Speaker 2: It's a great feeling to have the opportunity to build something monumental. And making sure that we are providing the services and the buildings that will provide those services for years to come is an important piece of who we are.

Speaker 3: We don't walk in the door as the general contractor, we walk in the door as a team member that's part of the design, part of the pre-construction, part of the construction.

Speaker 4: We have their best intentions, that's at the forefront of what we're trying to do.

Speaker 5: I think they feel just as responsible for the project as we as the owner's reps do. Being able to make sure that needs are being met, we're watching for patient advocacy, making sure that their needs are met, and also trying to finish the project in a safe manner.

Speaker 6: You have to go beyond the plans, the specs, and the execution. You really need to know what a healthcare campus looks like, how it operates.

Speaker 7: Renovations, tight spaces, greenfield sites, whatever it may be. They understand the challenges of working directly adjacent to an existing operational healthcare facility.

Speaker 6: So that takes a bit of tender loving care when you're trying to put up, you know, an eight-story tower.

Speaker 5: So they know that we're going to have issues, and being able to be proactive and work through those issues, it's been good.

Speaker 2: Dig into the details from the building enclosure to the MEP systems, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and truly understand how those things work. The deep knowledge of how those processes work is really what makes a quality building at the end of the day.

Speaker 8: Some of the different technologies that we're implementing range from virtual design and construction, doing laser scanning of our concrete decks to verified floor flatness and floor levelness.

Speaker 5: Being able to scan a floor and see what's actually in our slab is a huge asset to have. Using the laser technology to pinpoint and to shore up our measurements in fine, unforeseen conditions has been a great asset and tool as well.

Speaker 8: We also use our 3D model, which is done with our mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, all of our MEP trades. We do also use drones on our project in order to photo document the site on a regular basis. It's a wide range of technologies that we use on the job.

Speaker 4: Patients are at the forefront of what we're doing, so within a renovation project, we always start with infection control. We have our logs, we have our monitoring, we do our weekly infection control walks with

Speaker 7: infection prevention staff within the facility. This thing is going at a very rapid pace, and keeping focus on patient care as the first priority and operational priorities is my biggest concern.

Speaker 5: McCarthy is really good about trying to work around those hours of quiet times so we can make sure that we apply that to our patients, and they get the best rest and time to heal while still trying to get the work done.

Speaker 2: Communication is really important. Every day we meet at 6 o'clock to do a stretch and flex with the team. It's partially about stretching, but it's more about communication, about what's going on, where the hazards lie, where the needs are that morning.

Speaker 4: We meet with our PD&C staff, facilities, the life safety team, the infection prevention team, the public safety team, discuss current disruptions, what may or may not be working if there's an adjustment that we need to make.

Speaker 2: We're also making sure that the people who are not on site are engaged in the project by sending out video updates once a week, and the clients love these videos. They get the opportunity to share that with their stakeholders, the leadership from their respective companies. It is enjoyable progress and momentum. McCarthy is a community builder.

Speaker 6: We're a national company, but we reside within regions and communities. We know that the hard work that we put into this job is going to be multiplied a million

Speaker 3: times over by the care the facility will continue to provide for the next 50-plus years. When I'm driving away and going to my next project, there's something there that's going

Speaker 1: to impact the lives of a whole bunch of folks. For me, it's the community. It's going to impact the lives of a whole bunch of folks.

Speaker 2: For me, building hospitals has a higher purpose to take care of the communities and the people here.

Speaker 9: It'll be here for the next 50 to 100 years, and when I have kids and maybe they'll be born here, I can let them know the story behind the building and all the hard work that went into it. ♪♪♪
