Speaker 1: This is a test. Which microphone sounds better when I'm talking into it? The one with the Cloudlifter or the one without? This is a test. Which microphone sounds better when I'm talking into it? The one with the Cloudlifter or the one without? A dynamic microphone like the Shure SM7B requires a lot of gain in order to operate correctly. That's where something like this, a mic activator, and specifically this Cloudlifter comes in. Straight from Sweetwater's website, Cloudmicrophone's Cloudlifter is a mic activator that boosts the clarity and strength of your microphone signal while lowering the noise floor. The Cloudlifter CL2, which is this one right here, but you can also look at the CL1, which is a single channel, is phantom powered to sidestep many of the common problems that occur with mics and instruments. It delivers up to 25 dB of clean gain for XLR mics. So right now what you're listening to is the onboard microphone. What I thought would be cool is if I put both of these microphones side by side. They're both Shure SM7Bs, which is I feel like a common thing to pair with. A Cloudlifter, have one of them connected to the Cloudlifter. The other one's not going to be, and I'm just going to start from zero and get levels from there. Do you like this kind of stuff? Don't forget to subscribe. I do premier tutorials and a podcast on this channel, hence the reason why I'm doing this Cloudlifter thing. Let's go ahead and get into it. This top knob and top microphone are the one that do have the Cloudlifter on the signal chain. And then the bottom knob and bottom microphone are the ones that do not. It's just going straight in. So let's get into the H6. This is me talking. Oh yeah. I bet this sounds so much better than that onboard microphone. Let's see what we're twerking with there. That sounds pretty loud. As you can see from the levels that are there, let me see what level I'm at. Oh yeah. Eight to seven. That's way too loud. That's normally, when I'm doing something on the H6, I don't, I normally run it in between seven and six. I think it sounds pretty good. I'm just going to be quiet for a second so you guys can hear the air. This is the one with the Cloudlifter. Cloudlifter. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I have the Cloudlifter channel at four and I have the non-Cloudlifter channel in between seven and six. This is a test. Which microphone sounds better when I'm talking into it? The one with the Cloudlifter or the one without? With the bottom one between seven and six and the top one at four, here's my intro. This is a test. Which microphone sounds better when I'm talking into it? The one with the Cloudlifter or the one without? With the bottom one between seven and six and the top one at four, here's my intro. What is up, Merced Nation? Javier Mercedes here for yet again, another passion in progress show, where we talk to inspiring individuals and hopefully through hearing their stories, you too are motivated to go out and pursue your passions as well. Today on the show, we have the H6 versus the H4N with the Cloudlifter. Let's go. The H6 versus the H4N with the Cloudlifter and without the Cloudlifter. How do you guys feel about that? We'll find out when I get this inside the computer. So here we have the older version of the Zoom H4N. The preamps on this are not as good as the H6, but I just want to showcase to you how much better it is if you were to get a mic activator in this setup. Let me start by talking. This is without the Cloudlifter. Just going for a good level here. Yeah. Without the Cloudlifter. Talking, talking, talking. What is up, Merced Nation? Javier Mercedes here for yet again, another passion in progress show, where we talk into an H4N and a Shure SM7B. That sounds pretty good to me. Around 90. I'm just going to do an even 90. So this is for the Cloudlifter. Bringing that up towards you guys so you can see it. Yeah. Yeah. Whoa. Right off the bat. I didn't even have to turn that up at all. Is that 15? That's only like 15. That sounds pretty good to me. I'm already popping the microphone with my plosives. Look at that. It's already overtaking it at some point. So I'm going to leave it right there. What did we end at? 21. I'm going to do an even 20 on the Cloudlifter. And then I'm going to do an even 90 on the non-Cloudlifter and just do my intro again. Let's see how it sounds. What is up, Merced Nation? Javier Mercedes here for yet again, another passion in progress show, where we talk to inspiring individuals. And hopefully, through hearing their stories, you too are motivated to go out and pursue your passions. Today on this show, we have two sure SM7Bs facing off with each other. Which one will win? The one without the Cloudlifter or the one with? And already in my headphones, I can tell that my left ear is burning with noise on the one without the Cloudlifter. So I'm just going to throw it up that the one with the Cloudlifter is probably going to be better. If you guys at home in the comments, let me know which microphone is better. Is it worth it to get a Cloudlifter for your setup? If so, I have links in the description of the Cloudlifter sure SM7B. I'm also using Mogami Gold XLR cables. Now these are really expensive cables. But if you're a one man band like me and you're going to record podcasts, I like spending money on quality because I don't want to have to worry about getting RF hits or getting any nuances in my audio signal chain. When I just want to focus on the interview and conversation at hand. Also to be transparent, I've recorded 50 episodes of my own podcast in an almost 100 episodes of the Chive podcast with the sure SM7B going directly into the H6 and nobody was complaining then. So is it worth it? I think so just because I want the best signal for my microphones. I leave it up to you though. I like having. As the least amount of noise in my microphones as possible and maybe you do too. Don't forget to leave me a like until next video live a life of abundance and I hope this was helpful. I'll see you guys on the next one.
