I will also announce the winner for my November's giveaway. I was giving away an entire desktop home setup for you guys that do not have a desktop, someone that would love to win a free computer. I am announcing the winner at the end of this video. So right now we are going to dive right into captioning jobs from home. So I'm sure many of you guys are wondering what is captioning. Captioning is a job in which you are hired to create captions or subtitles on videos, movies, television programs, and other broadcasts. I'm sure many of you guys, when you're watching Netflix videos, you see the captions at the end of the screen or just any type of broadcast. You may see the captions at the end. And so people are needed to provide those captions and type out the text for those that have a hearing impairment. So this is great for those that are looking for a non-phone job, something that does not involve you talking to customers, which is really popular now. A lot of people don't have the patience to sit on the phone. So this is a great flexible job. So what is your role? You will simply listen to an audio file or some type of broadcast, and you will transcribe what you have heard into text. Now there are two types of captionings. The first is offline captioning. That involves you captioning prerecorded television shows or just prerecorded audio files. The next type of captioning is real-time captioning. So this role involves you providing captioning for live videos, live programs. It can be a news show or it can even be a church sermon. So let's head into the skills that are really needed. You must definitely have excellent typing skills. They look for people to be very accurate when they are typing. You must have a great understanding of the English language, and also you must have great listening skills and attention to detail. That is so important when it comes to the skills that are needed. Now if you are a person that does not have really fast typing skills, but you would like to work on them more, you would like to, you know, get some more training, I do recommend that you go on to this website that I am always recommending for those that are looking for a free website that you can practice your typing skills for free. They will also show your accuracy rate. This is great for those that would love to improve your typing skills. Now as far as equipment, here are the most basic equipment that you will need to work as a captioner. You will need a reliable computer, access to a Microsoft Office program. Also you must, it is, it's not a requirement, but it is really good to have a foot pedal. This foot pedal helps a lot with being able to type with a certain amount of speed and just accuracy. Also a closed captioning software, YouTube has a really great YouTube captioning software along with Play Media. Those are two examples of really great softwares that you can use in order to be effective as a captioner. Now something that is optional is a separate monitor. You know, a lot of companies, they don't require you to have that, but that is really great, you know, and it allows you to be able to caption faster because you can be able to read the lips of the show or the broadcast that you are captioning text for. Right now I want to show you guys some places that hire beginner captioners to work from home. They offer flexible hours. So let's dive into some companies that you can be able to check out now.
