Speaker 1: Hi everyone welcome to my channel let's learn. Today we are going to talk about a brand new tool that you can use to automatically transcribe your audio or video files. Previously I have made videos about otter.ai which used to give 600 free minutes every month for automatic transcription but now all those free minutes are gone and you can only transcribe your first three files for free. Many of you asked me about an alternative to otter.ai and here we are. The best alternative to otter is ms word. Yes you heard that right Microsoft has recently added the transcribe feature in ms word. We are going to take a look and I will show you how it works. Before we jump into this I want to make it clear that this feature only works in word online and you need a premium Microsoft 365 account. I have included a link in the description to get one month free trial of Microsoft 365 premium account. You don't need a credit card or debit card for the same. If you get Microsoft 365 through work or school you most likely already have it. If you have a consumer account you have to have a subscription to take advantage of this. Let's check this out. To access word online first of all go to office.com. Here you will need to log in with your Microsoft account. After login select word document. Here you can start with a template or a blank document. I will start with a blank document. As I click on the plus icon this opens up a blank canvas. To use transcribe make sure your home tab is open and within the home ribbon all the way over on the right hand side you will see a little microphone icon and when you click on this you will see the option for transcribe. When I click on transcribe this opens up a small pane on the right hand side. Within transcribe we have two different options and we will go through both of them one by one. MS word allows you 300 minutes of audio upload each month. Okay so let's start with the audio upload. I'm going to upload this audio file. Depending on file size and speed of your internet connection this process may take some time. Now the transcript is ready and I'm going to walk you through all the different options or features available here. First off we have a typical playback control. From here you can change the playback speed. Then you have rewind, play and forward buttons and in the end you have the volume control. Let's play the audio and see how accurate the transcript is. So we were really

Speaker 2: excited about it. We couldn't believe that this would actually be happening. It's still I still kind of can't believe that we'll all be up there together but for us it is really the dream behind that dream come true because we all know each other so well and we truly are like a family. So it's going to mean even more so much for me to share my first flight with all of my other

Speaker 3: classmates as well. Christina anything to add? Jessica said it really well and in particular I'm just really excited for Jessica to join us. She and I trained together almost all of last year going back and forth to Russia and as you can imagine going through an experience like that you truly bond and so I'm ready for her to get up here and for us to have a good time and to get to work up here put it to put our training to work. The transcript seems pretty

Speaker 1: accurate and it has identified two of the three speakers. We can edit the transcript and speaker's name from here. Let's change the speaker's name. First one was Jessica. After you are done with the editing in this section scroll a little bit and click confirm to save the changes. The second speaker is not known so we will leave it as it is and the third one was Christina. We can replace all speaker 2 with Christina by simply putting a check mark in this box. At the beginning of every section you can see there is a time stamp. If you click on it the audio will start playing from that time so you don't have to play the audio from the beginning to make any changes in the transcript. Christina anything to add? If you hover the cursor over the transcript you will see this little plus icon. What it does is really handy it adds that particular section to the word document. So if you are taking notes doing research or looking for codes it will save you a lot of time. You can also add the entire transcript by pressing this blue button which says add all to documents. This was pretty good. Now let's check out how the recording feature works. I am going to start a new transcription in the same document but this time we will be using the recording feature. Note that creating a new transcript will delete your current transcript. So if you want to keep your current transcript then open a new word document. I am going to press ok because I don't want to save the current transcript as I am using this for demonstration purposes only. To test the recording feature I am recording myself first and then I will play an audio on my cell phone. This way we will be able to test real voices and digital voices both. Okay so let's do it. Hi everybody this is Ram and I am going to tell you a trick right now but before we begin I want you all to like this video and also don't forget to subscribe. I will also leave a link in the description so you can start your 30 days premium free trial for MS Word without any credit or debit card. The trick is about how you can transcribe unlimited pre-recorded audios using MS Word. MS Word allows you to transcribe 300 minutes of audio upload every month but there is no such limit for recordings. So all you have to do is play pre-recorded audios or videos on your cell phone and keep it near the microphone of your PC. This should work well in a noise-free surroundings with a good quality microphone. Let me show you how it works.

Speaker 4: I'm here to talk to you about Indian education, higher education in particular but I'm actually going to start with demography. How many of you here are under 35? Okay that seems pretty representative of the country. 65 percent of India is under 35. How many of you are under 25? Okay then you're not so represented because actually we have half the Indian population pretty much under 25. We are an amazingly young country. In fact if you just take the age group from 10 to 19 there are 226 million Indians poised in other words to enter

Speaker 1: higher education going through school and ready for high. That's enough recording for this video. Let's save and transcribe the audio. Again it will take some time. Now the transcript is ready. Let's review how accurate it is. At first glance I think it has done a great job. It transcribed accurately both the real human voice and the digital voice from my cell phone. It also has identified different speakers. I could only spot a couple of errors in the transcript. That's too because of my not so good English pronunciation. Otherwise it has done an awesome job. That's it for today. If you like the video give it a thumbs up. If you have any questions feel free to ask in the comment section. Also don't forget to subscribe and hit that bell icon. Thanks for watching. See you in the next video.
