+1 (831) 222-8398Speaker 1: One of the things that I don't like when doing client work is when they ask me to do subtitle. It's really nothing but I just feel like it kind of wastes my time and it's not really a fun thing to do. So when I found this plugin called SF Subtitles, I was really excited to try it. So there's two ways to add this subtitle onto your After Effects. The first one is to just copy paste your script straight away. So this is my script, a really short one sentence, so you can just like paste it like that or you can also import it in. So hit import subtitles here and then look for the folder where your script is. So what you need to do is if you have a Word document is to just like copy and paste it onto a notepad like I have here and save it as a text file. So now you just need to change the format to text. So there is my script. So just double click on it and then it'll say subtitles files imported successfully. Literally the same thing whether you want to import your subtitle or if you just want to copy and paste it. Now the next thing is to break up this script into lines. So if we just play this. Basically it says the first part is providing shelter and care for the homeless and then the second part is supporting women and children and then there's another part that says escaping family violence. So we're going to split it into three. In order to do that is basically you just need to hit enter or create a new line basically. The third line is escaping family violence. So we have three lines at the moment. Now if you want to create like a line break all you need to do is to just hit enter and leave that line empty and it will just create like kind of like a break. There won't be any text there. Before we hit create subtitles I want you to choose your font first. So choose whatever font it is that you want to use. I'm just going to stick with Montserrat and then I'm going to do maybe bold and then set the text size as well. And then after that you can create subtitles. So once your subtitle is created it will create two layers the text layers and the subtitles background. Let's focus on the text first. So I'm going to hit you and as you can see here oh I actually have five key frames here. So I think the last one we don't need it. That's a line break. I'm just going to delete it. These key frames the first one is the providing shelter and care for the homeless. The second one is the line break the one that we made before so it's like nothing. The third one is supporting women and children and the last one escaping family violence. So all you need to do is to just adjust these key frames to where it belongs. So I'm going to leave the first key frame as is. And then the second key frame is the line break. So I'm going to put it around there. And then the third one is supporting women and children. So I'm going to put it around there. We just have to make sure where the escaping family violence is. So I'm going to play it quickly. So escaping family violence is about there. So I'm going to put it just before there. So let's play it again.
Speaker 2: Providing shelter and care for the homeless or supporting women and children escaping family violence.
Speaker 1: Perfect. Next thing I want to do is to adjust the background so you can change the background to whatever color you want. So I'm just going to change it to this blue color. So that's still on brand with my film. And then if you go under effect controls here, there's two things that you can adjust the offset path and the rounders. So the offset path is basically just the size of the block. The rounders is basically the round edge or round corner here. So at the moment set as 10. So if you bring it up, it will be like super rounded like that. If you set it to zero, obviously it becomes the like the normal rectangle kind of thing. You can also adjust the opacity, I believe. Yeah. So at the moment set to 50 and you can set it to 100 if you want, but I'm just going to leave it as 50. Now say after you create all the subtitles, you want to change the font size or even like the font itself. In order to do that, you got to make sure to select all of the key frames. I think what you need to do is to make sure that your play head is on top of the key frames as well. So once you play head is on top of one of the key frames, select them all edit, and then you can edit these and then change the size to 40 and then hit apply. Let's have a look. Okay. So now it's updated. Yeah. So make sure that your play head is on top of the key frames. And then if you want to adjust the position of the subtitles, you can just select the text layer and just, yeah, move it around. So that's it. Pretty easy. And I hope this would be helpful for you too. Thanks so much for watching. I'll see you next time.
