+1 (831) 222-8398Speaker 1: In this video I'm going to show you how to save so much time in generating closed captions for your YouTube videos. Let's jump inside YouTube Studio and let me show you how to do this quickly and easily. So the first thing we need to do once we are inside of YouTube Studio is head into the video that we want to add closed captions for. So I'm going to head into my first video here and then down the left hand side once you're in the edit section you're going to head down Now I already have English set as my default language for the YouTube channel. If you don't have English set as your default yet it's going to ask you what language you want for your YouTube channel. Select your language and make sure you tick the box that says set as default for channel and then in future what's going to happen is you're going to automatically generate the English closed captions when you upload a new video. This is an amazing tool that YouTube has inside of YouTube Studio using technology to turn your voice into text and then generate those closed captions. But they're not always perfect especially for someone like me who has a South African accent and YouTube really battles to interpret that accent so they don't always get it right. So what you need to do is head into the video subtitles, click duplicate and edit and this is going to allow you to view the closed captions that YouTube has created. We're going to hit edit timing and what it's going to do is let us know which words are appearing over the video at certain time codes. If we look at the time codes it's from the first split second to four seconds and seven splits. So if we click in there we can see how it's showing it and how long it shows it for. So we want to preview the video check that the timing is correct and if we want to change any other timing for the closed captions we can do this here. So if you want to make corrections it's super easy you just click in there and then you can correct it so we can capitalize there and then go through and have a look to see if you can find any mistakes. Here we have our first mistake and this happens all the time it's my surname. So we can correct the spelling of our surname there and you'll see that in the closed captions it corrects it right away. Let's see if we can find another mistake. Now you may need to play your video back in order to check exactly what you see so that you can correct the closed captions so that they read and flow with your video. Two things number one I want to build a relationship with you so changing to a personal brand and that flows really nicely and if you want to change any of the punctuation you can so I like to capitalize our R's and you can go along and tweak the entire video to generate your closed captions. Now once you're happy with this you can publish these changes to your video and you'll see that the most recently modified closed captions will appear on your video and that's how quick and easy it is to add closed captions to your video. If you like this tool as much as we do make sure you smash that like button and if you have any questions about adding closed captions to your videos let us know in the comment section down below. Thanks so much for watching and we'll see you in the next video.
