Speaker 1: For virtual assistants who work in industries which require transcription of video and or audio recordings, it can be quite time-consuming. This is more so true when you need to transcribe a very long recording. Luckily, here in Online Teller's Circle, we've recently discovered an app which can help you transcribe more efficiently. In this video, we will discuss how to easily transcribe videos or audio recordings using Otter.ai. Hi, I'm Ozzy from Online Teller's Circle, where we provide help and support and guidance to online business owners. If you're new to this channel, make sure you subscribe and hit the bell icon so you get notified whenever we release new videos. And now, let's get down to business. Before we discuss the app itself, let's first know what Otter.ai is. According to Wikipedia, it was founded in 2016 and it's a Los Altos, California-based technology company that develops speech-to-text transcription and translation applications using artificial intelligence and machine learning. Its software, called Otter, shows captions for live speakers and generates written transcriptions of the speeches. Next, as with other apps, let's also check their pricing plans. To check their pricing plans, just go to otter.ai slash pricing. And here, you'll be able to see the different pricing plans that they have. You can either switch or purchase a monthly subscription or yearly subscriptions. As you can see here, they have a free plan, which you will see the features that it has. And apart from that, you also have the pro, business, and enterprise plans. If you click get started or start for free, you will be routed to the same page wherein you will be asked to input your details so that you could start using the otter.ai free plan. Once you have created your account, you can press or you can click log in and it will route you to this page. In this page, you'll be able to see your otter.ai account. As you can see, there are a lot of options that you can choose in the left pane. So basically, you can create a workspace for your team. You can check the conversations with your team if they've sent you some messages. You have direct messages, you have groups, and you also have folder. If you click more, you'll also be able to see apps that are connected with your otter.ai account, the conversations, and the trash. Trash is for transcriptions that you have deleted. On the right-hand side, you'll be able to see your calendar. Here, you'll be able to connect and sync your calendars with your otter.ai account so that your meetings can be recorded and it will automatically be transcribed into a written form. Next, on top of your otter.ai account, you'll be able to see the menu. Here, in search, you'll be able to search for transcriptions that you have already created. Paste meeting URL to record means that, for example, the Zoom link that you'll be using for your meeting, you can paste it here and otter.ai will automatically record and transcribe your meeting. Here, you can record directly in your otter.ai account. With import, you can press import and it will pop up your local drive and you'll be able to upload your video or audio recording and otter.ai will transcribe that for you then. Basically, the three options that you can see on top of your otter.ai desktop are your options for you to transcribe your audio or video recordings. In this case, if we click import, it will ask you to drag and drop your audio or video recording or browse files. But since we are using a free account, we only have three imports here and we've already used them up. For this video, for the purpose of this video, let's go ahead and create record to see how otter.ai transcribes your video or audio recording. Once we click record, this window or this page will appear and there's a prompt that you get 30 minutes of transcription per conversation since, again, we are just using a free account. Let's close that up. When I clicked it earlier, it was automatically recording and I had to pause it. Let's go ahead and resume recording.
Speaker 2: This is a test audio for otter.ai.
Speaker 1: There, as you can see, as soon as I have spoken and I have clicked record or resume recording, otter.ai started to transcribe what I was saying. If you're done, you can click stop recording or you can choose the options here wherein you can put a comment, you can highlight a part of your transcription, you can add an image, or you can put an action item.
Speaker 2: For the purpose of this video, let's go ahead and click stop recording.
Speaker 1: Normally, this option appears if your audio or video recording is a long one and you can choose to be notified when the transcription is already finished. What happens is that otter.ai will send you an email with a link to your transcription and tells you that it's already done. Here, since it was just a short and sweet sample, obviously, it's already done. What you can do if you click this one, you can click dismiss to remove that. But if you click the audio recording itself, it will bring you to your audio recording. You can just change the title of that recording.
Speaker 2: Let's put sample. You can rate your transcription quality.
Speaker 1: If you click a part of your recording, it will automatically read or play the audio recording that you did. You can choose the options wherein you can highlight, put a comment, put an action item, image, you can copy, or you can even share it within your social media platforms, or you can copy the link and attach it to your email or to different platforms that you have. To copy it, what you have to do is that you can just copy it and paste it on your documents. And you can also edit if the transcription was not accurate, you can edit it. You can include any words that were missed out during the recording, or you can also remove words or letters that were not supposed to be there. Otter.ai is such a helpful tool and such a helpful app for people who have tasks that would require them to transcribe video or audio recordings. And it's also such a great thing that they have a free option, so if you're on the thrifty side, you can still use Otter.ai without spending any time for it. If you're interested to sign up for an Otter.ai account, whether it's for free or paid, I'll be leaving the link down below. If you've enjoyed this video, don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe. That's it for now. Thanks for watching. Bye.
