+1 (831) 222-8398Speaker 1: Welcome to Grad Life Grind and welcome to this series on personal statements. In this video, I want to walk you through one of my really important tips for writing a strong and compelling personal statement, whether it's for graduate school or another opportunity. If you haven't had the chance to watch the videos before this one in the series, I encourage you to go back and check those out before you move on. And if you are up to date on the videos, I'm so glad that you're here. This quick video is all about the editing process. While you're editing your personal statement, you definitely need to have more than one person reading it, and more than just you reading it, for sure. So think about the people who know you really well, whether it's friends, family, professors, supervisors, people that you work with. You're gonna want to have a few people read through your personal statement and make sure that it really represents you authentically. But what's important here is that you don't ask too many people to review it, and the reason why is because if you have feedback from too many people, you're gonna be overwhelmed. One person might be saying that you should change something, somebody else might say that they really love that section, and then you're not gonna know what to do. So really think about who you want to read this, who knows you the best, and make sure that you're only having maybe three people review it, that you really know and trust and can appreciate all the different things about you that you're writing about. Please do not submit your personal statement before you've had someone read through it for you and provide feedback. And you want to make sure that the person you're asking isn't afraid to be honest with you about some things that they would change. Because if you ask someone, who is just gonna be like, it's amazing, I wouldn't change anything, it's perfect, that's not really a good person to help you out in this way. You want to make sure that someone who's reviewing it knows you well, can provide feedback appropriately, and you also trust them with this really personal part of your application. I really hope that this video was helpful for you, and if it was, I hope you'll subscribe to my channel and check out some of my other videos. Good luck.
