And feel free to subscribe to this channel and become part of the BMI KRTV community where we share various scholarship opportunities that you can take advantage of. So we already have a number of scholarship opportunities that we have shared around 119 videos that you can take advantage of, as you can see here. Who knows, there might already be something that you are interested in. And so we are rooting for you, even as you work around getting that scholarship opportunity. And we are here to share different scholarship opportunities and we can hear from you that you have been able to scoop that scholarship opportunity. Today we have another exciting opportunity from Imperial College London that we are sharing and it is a scholarship opportunity for doctoral studies. You can see here that there are different scholarship opportunities here at Imperial College London website. And we are focusing on one particular one, which is called the President's PhD Scholarship Opportunity. And so we're going to click on this just to take us to where we can, you know, just look at more details about this scholarship opportunity. So there's a lot of information here which highlights, you know, everything about this scholarship from a brief overview to around what this scholarship covers and even the application process as well. So you can see that if you are a high-performing undergraduate or master's student and have a strong desire to undertake a PhD program at a world-class research institution, a President's PhD Scholarship could provide you with the outstanding opportunity to receive full funding, petition fees, and a generous stipend for a period of three and a half years PhD place at Imperial College London. And so there is also this section which says meet our scholars, which I would always encourage prospecting applicants to really go and look at these stories of Imperial students who have received a President's PhD Scholarship before and just hear from them what they are saying, what their profiles look like, so that you may want to tailor your profile to something similar so that you package your application in a similar fashion or you package your profile in a similar fashion and, you know, essentially just learn from them. And that is, you know, one important practice that I always recommend people who are applying for scholarships to really follow. Now, what are the scholarship, you know, opportunities covering? So there's a total of 50 scholarships that are being awarded under this scheme and they're being awarded for a duration of three and a half years. This is offering full tuition coverage, it's also offering a living stipend to, you know, sort out your living costs and also you are being given what are called consumable funds. So you are being given something towards some, you know, to address the consumables. And so this is a total of £2,000 which is being given as a consumables fund and this is going to be given for the first three years of your studies. And in addition to that, you also have access to a programme on BISCOP opportunities and events delivered by the Graduate School and so you might want to also take advantage of that. Then you're also going to have access to a full range of support available to postgraduate students at Imperial College London including tailored support for disabled and international students and the wider graduate school programme of professional skill courses. So essentially you're going to have access to professional development courses. Now, what's the eligibility criteria? So this is a competitive scheme which usually attracts high achieving students with excellent previous academic performance and promising research potential. So they accept applications from talented candidates from Imperial College London, from the UK and worldwide. There are no restrictions on nationality, alright. So every nation, every individual from any nation can apply for this scholarship opportunity and it's open for both full-time and part-time students. So they encourage applications from people of all backgrounds because they recognise diversity and they say that diversity does not only benefit Imperial College London but also helps the sector to better represent the communities they serve. Now, they also have what is called the academic criteria, the alternative criteria and other criteria that you may need to look at if you are considering to apply to this scholarship opportunity. So you need to have a first class or equivalent undergraduate degree, alright, or integrated master's degree. Candidates must be in receipt of a distinction in a standalone master's qualification. So this allows candidates who have demonstrated excellence at master's level but not achieved a first class undergraduate degree to be able to apply to the scheme. So if you understand this correctly, you can actually see that there might be students who may have just gone direct into getting a master's degree without getting an undergraduate level degree. So such students can also apply to this programme so that there are equal opportunities even for such kind of students. And at the same time, if you are an undergraduate with excellent academic credentials, you can apply for this direct PhD programme. So you can also go direct, you know, into this programme as a direct PhD entrant from an undergraduate level degree and this is what these, you know, opportunities actually highlighting. Now, what about the alternative pathways? What are they saying? So at Imperial, they are committed to attracting, nurturing and championing the best local, national and global talent by providing quality of opportunity and removing barriers. So through the alternative pathways route, candidates with non-traditional academic or career pathways will show exceptional research potential, can apply for this scholarship opportunity. So what they mean here is that if you simply did not get academic qualifications but got professional qualifications and you have potential to become an exceptional researcher, then you can apply for this scholarship as well. So that's something that you want to take advantage of if you are falling within that category. Now, what about the other criteria? So applications are accepted from talented candidates from Imperial College London, the UK and worldwide. All right. There are no restrictions on nationality, although some departments may be unable to support international candidates. The scheme is only open to new Ph.D. applications. Current registered Imperial Ph.D. students are not eligible to be considered for a president's Ph.D. scholarship. Right. And then there are water code scholarship terms and conditions, which you can read at your own time if you are interested in applying to this scholarship opportunity. So the question is, how do you apply for this scholarship opportunity? So applications for this scholarship scheme will be considered at three points throughout the academic year. And so you may want to see the information on when will you hear from them below. All right. But before you apply, you first of all must make contact with a supervisor in an academic department at Imperial College London who has agreed to supervise your research project. All right. So supervisors are limited to supervise one scholar at any time. So you may need to review the president's Ph.D. scholarship, you know, unavailable supervisors page for more information on that. All right. And then in terms of the application process, there is no specific application form. You should simply submit your application for admission to study at Imperial through the online admission system. And your department will put you forward to the scholarship based on your academic merit and potential. So there is no separate application. So your department will simply look at your academic merit and potential. So as you have applied, then they will assess your application and then look at your academic merit and potential to become a prolific researcher. And then they will put you up for that scholarship opportunity. Scholarship specific instructions for the admission process are below. So you must also meet any additional application requirements stated by your department of choice. So this is some additional admission instructions that you may need to look at. So for the academic year 2025, the earliest start date for funded places is 1st August 2025. So if you apply to this scholarship opportunity, you will actually be starting your academic studies in August 2025. The latest start date is November 2025. And so that's something that you want to take advantage of and just take note of. Just want to take note of that. Make sure that as you're applying, if you're applying this time around, you will be starting your academic studies next year in August earliest, but latest November next year. Then you may you'll be prompted for a personal statement, which must include a two page document. And again, they highlight some additional details about the personal statement here. And then they also highlight that this personal statement should have a second page and the second page should be tailored more about the research proposal. Right. So this, again, is something that you want to really take a look at. So they're saying the first page of the personal statement, like a two pager personal statement. The first page of a personal statement should highlight the motivations for applying to Imperial and the scholarship and any other supporting information not included elsewhere on the form that you feel will enhance your application. Then the second page should be your research proposal. So you may submit updated versions of this statement if required following application submission, if your department should list you for the scholarship. So you're encouraged to write this in the first person. Then, in addition to that, they highlight that if you are prompted for the names of two academic referees, these should be people who can provide an academic reference in support of your application. So they even give examples of people that you should select as academic referees. So this should be someone who has served as your personal tutor or those who have served as your thesis supervisor in the past. You should not include your proposed PhD supervisor. You are encouraged to share this guidance with your two referees, noting in particular that the recommendation to use they them language rather than gender pronouns. So they have to use they them language rather than gender pronouns. To be considered for the president's PhD scholarship scheme, you must select this option in the funding section of the additional questions tab within the online application form. So when you are applying, you are prompted on the additional questions, you will need to select the president's PhD scholarship scheme in the application portal. And then they have the section where they talk about the review and selection process. So 50 scholarships are currently available. Applications will be reviewed by two stage process. So this is the first stage where they say candidates meeting or predicted to meet the eligibility criteria will be reviewed by the department to which they have applied. So the department will select a short list of candidates to present to the college selection panel for consideration. So that will be the first phase. Then the second phase is the final decisions will be made by the college selection panel. So the members of the panel are the vice provost research, the director of the graduate school and the faculty vice deans for research. Imperial recognizes excellence in all their faculties and as such allows some offers to be made at faculty level. All right. So that's something that you have to take note of. So a faculty allocation stage will score and run candidates in departmental shortlists, making initial offers to the most promising candidates. Faculty vice deans present these candidates with justification for offers at the college selection panel. So the college selection panel makes additional offers from a ring faced allocation to candidates that meet widening participation. All right. Or other strategic alignment goals. What is the assessment criteria that they are looking at? And this is something that you want to pay attention to. Candidates are assessed by the faculties and college selection panel against these criteria. So they are looking at your academic excellence. And so they are looking at your past academic results, your transcripts, your relative class position, awards, distinctions. All right. And then they are looking at your research potential. So two criterias, academic excellence and the research potential. So how do they assess the research potential? So they are looking at the candidates research experience to date. Their interest in discovery, the research plan that you have put up and its potential contribution as described in your research proposal. The departmental statement, which also reflects on performance at interview stage. So successive candidates will receive written confirmation of their scholarship. Any offer of a PhD place will be conditional on the candidates receiving the predicted qualifications. All right. That just in case you have not yet received the qualifications that you had highlighted in the application. That is, if you have not yet completed your undergraduate, if you have not yet completed your master's degree, you are currently still in your master's degree program and you are indicating that you will be completing on a particular date. So they will give you a provisional acceptance. All right. Applicants not selected for the scholarship will automatically be considered for a standard PhD. Right. So that's something that you need to really take a look at. So when they take up a standard PhD, they're looking at, you know, students who are going to self fund a PhD program. All right. So that's something you have to just keep at the back of your mind. Now, when are you going to hear from Imperial College London? So successive candidates will receive written confirmation of their scholarship. Any offer of a PhD place will be conditional on the candidate receiving the predicted qualifications. So applications, applicants who apply by that by 4th November 2025 and are awarded a scholarship will be notified by end of January 2025. All right. So what they're saying here is that, you know, the deadline is 4th November 2024. So this is supposed to be 2024, I presume. And when you submit your application by 4th November 2024, you are going to receive an award, you know, to the scholarship by end of January 2025. OK. Then applicants who apply by 9th January 2025 and are awarded a scholarship will be notified by end of March 2025. So end of March 2025. And then applicants who apply by 10th March 2025 and are awarded a scholarship will be notified by end of May 2025. So you want to look at when you want to apply by these deadlines that are highlighted here. So 4th November 2024, 9th January 2025 and 10th March 2025. So when you want to actually apply for an admission, you know, position at any of the PhD programs at Imperial College London and whilst applying for that, you select the president's scholarship opportunity in the application portal. And so there is this last section here which talks about current scholar or Imperial staff member. So information for current scholars and information for Imperial staff. So this may not apply to you at the moment, but you can do well to look at information for current scholars. So just to see what that may look like and how that may be helpful to you as you consider applying for this particular scholarship opportunity. So there you have it, dear friends. At this point, I would like to encourage you to really, you know, take advantage of this scholarship opportunity, explore it further and see if it is something that you would like to apply for or if you do meet the criteria to apply for.
