[00:00:00] Speaker 1: So in this video, I'm going to show you some of the best transcription sites that you can go to if you're a beginner or if you want to work from home. I only included sites that also have at least three star ratings from their workers and at least a handful of real reviews. So one thing I like to remind people before you do any kind of transcription work, you might want to know your word-per-minute typing speed. You can test this for free at typingtest.com. You can also click this button to take free typing lessons that will help you improve your word-per-minute typing speed. I would say most companies, if they actually have a requirement for this or they actually have you take a typing test when you apply, I would say usually it's probably like 40 to 50 words per minute, and they also want you to be in the high 90s in accuracy. So one place you might check for transcription jobs like this is 3Play Media. 3Play Media has transcription jobs. They also have these other ones where you are called a voice writer, which is essentially a type of job where you are speaking what someone else is saying in a live stream, and then the captions are created for that live stream. But mainly, of course, we are focusing on transcription jobs. You can also look for translation jobs here as well. As you can see right now, they have an English and Spanish transcriptionist job available. So for these jobs, you will basically create text from audio, and you may also edit imperfect transcriptions as well. You need to be able to provide expert transcribing services independently and be able to provide a quick turnaround on a finished work product. So with this one, required qualifications are excellent written communication skills, excellent command of English, proficiency with internet research and reference resources, ability to manage projects, work independently, and closely follow instructions. It must be at least 18 years of age or older. You don't see a lot of requirements in terms of experience or a certain level of education or anything like that. So instead of a typical application process where you would have to interview, what you do is you basically apply through your computer. You will have an application, and you also have some sort of tests, I believe, that you take here. And then you receive an email if you passed to go on to the next step after that. So you also receive weekly paychecks based on a per project per minute rate for the work you completed in the prior week. And you need to be at least 18 years of age or older. And again, we've been over most of these requirements. You do also have to pass a background check if you're a US-based applicant. And they also have this for Spanish speakers as well. Now as far as what it's like to work here, they do have hundreds of reviews. So very good to have as many reviews as possible. Also a 3 out of 5 star rating, which is a fairly decent score. And when it comes to salaries here, and how much you might be able to make as a transcriptionist at this company, you can adjust this to hourly pay. And anything that says like transcriptionist or transcript editor is what you're looking for. So if you look at the top four that have something to do with transcription, you're looking between $16 and $32 per hour. Next you have a company called Rev. Rev.com is one of probably the more famous transcription sites where you can apply if you want some sort of like a side hustle, and you want to get paid via PayPal. This is a great one to check out. And they have a ton of reviews. But if you go to sign up as a freelancer, they have three different types that you can do. One is just general transcription. And you also have captioning as well as subtitling. So for all of these, they do have some things in common here like flexible work schedules. You could actually make your own hours, choose from hundreds of jobs, and get paid weekly again via PayPal. So make sure you have a verified PayPal account if you're gonna try and work here. You can also apply for many different countries. As you can see, they have a long list here that you can apply from. And the pay is going to usually, just like any other transcription job, they don't always tell you an hourly pay. They usually tell you like a range of pay that has to do with the per audio or video minute. So with their regular transcription jobs, you would get paid 30 cents to $1.10 per audio or video minute. If you were to work into captioning, which is going to focus mostly on videos, 54 cent to $1.10 per audio or video minute. And if you were to do subtitles, that pays the most at $1.50 to $3 per audio or video minute. And that also will involve translation. So you may have to be multilingual for that part. Now as far as what's like to work at Rep, they do have a 3.7 out of 5 star rating. And they have over 2,500 reviews here, which is great. It's gonna be one of the most reviewed sources on this list. So you, I always recommend you read through the reviews before you apply somewhere. As far as how much you can earn, now we have three different jobs we can look at. Now you can say, well, I'm here for transcription only jobs, and I only want to see how much a transcriptionist pays. You're not, maybe you're not interested in captioning or subtitling, but if you are interested in transcription, there's a good chance you're also interested in maybe the other two, because they can also pay more in some cases. So we're gonna go over all three. Transcriptionists in general make somewhere between looks like $15 and $23 an hour. Captioning is gonna be very similar according to not only the website, but the reviews as well. Captionists typically make almost the same as a regular transcriptionist. We do have one person that said they were actually four people that reviewed being a freelance subtitler, and they say the pay was better at $23 to $37 per hour. You also have a company called Daily Transcription. Daily Transcription is one you may have seen me cover in the past. I've covered them a couple of times. Daily Transcription is one that has a lot of different transcription jobs, and sometimes they'll have some others as well, where you're more of an editor than a manual transcriptionist and things like that. So if you want to look at their actual job vacancies that they have, for one, they have translation, of course, which is a little bit different than what we're looking for right now, but you also have general transcription, which is going to be like the average transcription job, where you are just going to cover all sorts of different types of files. And this one, they all are gonna probably require you to have at least about a 50 word per minute typing speed. So this is one company that tells you upfront what they expect for your typing speed. And then a lot of this other stuff is very basic in terms of qualifications, like being able to have good listening skills, attention to detail, time management, proficient using transcription software, inserting time codes, and things like that. They said 10 to 30 hours per week. This will vary by the job. Experience level will vary by the job. One to two years for this one. Independent contractor, and then the pay will vary by the per hour of material. So they also have AI editors. This is more if you want to edit a transcript that's auto-generated by AI. So you could do that as well, which pays 60 to 90 per hour of material. It's actually a little bit higher pay. And then you also have like usually medical and legal transcription pays a little bit more. So if you want to get a little bit higher pay, you might try and target those if you can. So medical transcription, for instance, has a lot of the same requirements, although they do say an extra year or so of experience. And then this one says 75 to 120 dollars per hour of material. Again, this is not per hour of your time. It's per hour of material. How much that pays you per hour of your time is going to depend on your accuracy and your speed. You also have subtitling and captioning, kind of like they do with REV, legal transcription, which again is one of the higher paying ones. So you can keep going down the list. They have some in other languages as well. But this is a great place to find all sorts of like freelance transcription jobs. And they hire in a select few countries, which are the US, Canada, UK, and New Zealand. As far as what's like to work here, they'd be 3.6 out of 5 star rating. 54% recommend working here to a friend, which is pretty good actually. And they do have a few dozen reviews that you can look through. Now, they tell you, of course, how much you can make per hour of material. It's hard to translate that into per hour of your time, just because everybody's gonna have different speeds, different accuracy, different levels. Maybe you have certain like a foot pedal or something that helps you be faster. I don't know, your situation. So transcription though, if you look at just what reviews we do have so far, you're looking at looks like in the the mid to high teens all the way up to possibly in the the mid to high 20s for the most part. The highest of any of these looks like closer to the high 20s at around $29. You also have a company called Crowdsurf Work. And there are some other companies with similar names. You have to make sure it's crowdsurfwork.com. And of course, I'll have links to all this stuff in the video description and on selfmadesuccess.com. But if you look at Crowdsurf Work, they also have transcription work available here. And you can work online anytime from anywhere as a freelance transcription. So you will work to create video captions for deaf, hard of hearing, or second language viewers. So you will be watching some videos with these, which I know some people are interested in. Some of the benefits and required skills are actually on the side here instead of just everything being kind of one in one column. So on the side here, you notice that you can actually earn by the day's end. So apparently they do pay very quickly. They say most jobs are easy, but obviously that's going to be relative to who's actually doing it. Some people might say it's difficult. You have steady work. They say no resumes, no interviews, no waiting. Flexibility. Work on your own schedule. Fulfillment. Make a difference. Required skills. Detail oriented. Must have a PC or Mac. Reliable internet connection. Basic typing skills. Great listening skills. Excellent proofreading. Good judgment. Team player. And they also recommend a few things, maybe for your home office. Over-ear headphones to cancel ambient noise. Google Chrome browser. No extra equipment is required. So they don't really require any special equipment. They also say that you can set up your payment method by direct deposit, PayPal, and more. And usually you can get paid pretty quickly here. According to them, it's instant pay. And they say that the work market team will review your profile and tax information. This typically takes less than 24 hours. So you could get up and running fairly quickly if you were to pass their application process, which seems to be fairly efficient. So again, you are a freelancer. You can get started in the US or Canada, and they also have bilingual Spanish work for you as well, if you happen to speak multiple languages. It looks like they actually support German as well in some instances. Now this one, they don't have a ton of reviews. They do have at least seven. There were some other websites I left out that offer transcription work because they only had like one review. They at least have a handful of reviews, and they have a 3.2 out of 5 star rating. So you can read through those reviews and decide whether or not you want to apply here or not. But currently they don't have enough information on salaries to tell you how much you might be able to expect. It'll probably be on par though with many of the other sites. You also have a company called Go Transcript. Go Transcript is a place that's been around for 20 plus years, and they offer transcription services here as well and allow you to apply as a freelance transcriptionist. So you can be a transcriptionist. You can also edit captions and transcriptions as well if you want to go more the editing route. But you have flexible remote work here. They say they have competitive pay, which is up to $1.75 per minute. I'm guessing that's per audio minute, of course. But you have a two-step application, which should be fairly quick. Hiring for 40 plus languages. So they support a lot of different languages here, which is nice. It's a little bit different than a lot of these other ones that mostly do English. They also seem to have very good customer reviews here that they are very proud of. So they've been in business for a very long time, again around 20 years. They've paid out quite a bit of money to freelancers, and they say that you can earn with stable pay here as a freelancer. So you have reliable work volume. They say, according to them, again, that's not something I would really count on most of the time with this type of work. But they say they're a top choice for English transcription services worldwide. You may be able to apply from different countries here as well if you're looking for something that offers transcription work outside of the US. It looks like, according to my notes, you can actually apply here from around the world. You also use a PayPal account, as you can see, to get paid. You can also use Payoneer as well if you're interested in using Payoneer. And they also mentioned that you can earn weekly payments. There's no degree or diploma needed, and you can pretty much work whenever you want and choose your projects here as well. As far as what it's like to work here, they have a 4 out of 5 star rating, and they are a company that has a lot of reviews. They have 598 reviews that you can sort through to get an idea of what it might be like before you apply. So that's a really good sample size and obviously a legitimate company. Hourly pay here can vary, but I mean, it's going to be pretty much on par with any of the other sites I mentioned. If you look at the top ones that all mention specifically a type of transcription here, now, obviously, if you were to go into maybe legal or medical specific at this company, you might be able to earn a little bit more, maybe even some languages pay more than others. But for the most part, you're looking at about $16 to something like $35 or $36 an hour. You also have a company called GMR Transcription, which is another one that's been around a while for offering transcription services. They mostly have US-based transcriptionists as well. Now, the thing about them, they are not currently taking direct applications for transcriptionists on the website, but they do tell you where they post. So they post on job boards like FlexJobs, Transcription Essentials, Transcription Certification Institute, and wahm.com. So you can upload your resume on those boards and they may reach out to you for jobs if they are hiring. So for whatever reason, they stopped posting jobs directly on their website. But again, you can check those job boards for GMR Transcription. They've also been around since 2004. So according to my notes, you can apply for them without experience in some cases and they do sometimes offer translation services, as you can see at the top. So they have lots of different types of transcription and translation services. You have all sorts of types of transcription that could be higher paying, like legal for instance, or court reporting. So you may be able to get some higher rates here if you were to get hired. So as far as what it's like to work here, they do have a few dozen reviews, which is good. They also are an engaged employer on Glassdoor, which is usually a trustworthy indicator. 4.4 out of 5 stars is a very good score. And as far as how much you can earn with GMR Transcription, if you were to look at their hourly pay according to their reviews, 17 to 28, 20 to 33, you see some others that are pretty close to that same ballpark as well, possibly even up to 35. Now last but not least, we have a company called Atheon, which is another one that's been around a while that also offers transcription as well as cybersecurity solutions. So if you look at Atheon specifically for transcription jobs, then they have some remote transcription jobs, some of which are freelance. They're pretty much all freelance. But if you look at what they have right now, they kind of list them of what's active. So with this one, they also have a general transcription job, and they have a Spanish transcriptionist and translator. This one's going to be more for security and law enforcement transcription. So they are both remote, both freelance. So just to click on one, give you an idea of what these look like. It looks just like a typical job application page. Freelance, they tell you if they require any work experience or not, which they require very little, usually a minimum of one year of some sort of related experience. They also are wanting you to be a U.S.-based transcriptionist. So if you're outside the U.S., you might look at other sites that I've shown you. But Responsibilities here would transcribe multi-speaker recordings, ensure verbatim transcription, capturing all speech pauses and background noises, you know, things like that. Obviously, we all know kind of what you're doing. You're looking at this video because you know you want something transcription related. You kind of know what transcription is like. So as far as requirements go, proficient in transcribing multi-speaker recordings verbatim. So again, you may have to label speakers because these might be interviews or something like that. Excellent command of English, strong attention to detail, work independently, good internet connection and computer, on-the-job training with seasoned business professionals can be offered here as well. As far as what it's like to work here, they do have 13 reviews, which is more than you would be surprised how many transcription companies have just like one or two reviews. So they still have a a fair amount of reviews that you can read through, 3.5 out of 5 stars. And as far as how much you can earn here, again, these can vary quite a bit because it depends a lot on your accuracy and speed, but medical transcription, for instance, $18 to $27 per hour. You see $20 to $34. And that's really all that we have so far in terms of transcription reviews for salaries here so far. So hopefully this was helpful.
