+1 (831) 222-8398Speaker 1: Hello Jackal, now this is also something that I do while waiting for new DaVinci Resolve updates. Now I did wait quite a bit, but no new update is coming, at least that's what I think. As you can see, 18.5 version beta 3 released in 22nd May. And if I go to the Twitter of the Blackmagic Design, you can see that from June 22nd to 24th they will be showing DaVinci Resolve 18.5. So I highly doubt there will be a beta 4, but let's see what they've actually added. So what they've improved on is transcription and captioning, namely they've added a bunch of languages. So I just turn this clip, the in and out point. Now for the subtitles, you will have to go to the timeline, create subtitle from audio. Now the language, as you can see, you have a bunch of options, in this case I can leave this to auto, I'll leave the caption preset to default, I'll leave the max characters per line as is, we now have the option to set single or double lines, and you can also set the gap between subtitle frames. So I guess they should increase this window a little bit, so that you can actually see what it says. Let's create the subtitles, and I guess it actually won't create them, because I don't have something on the timeline. Now why I've picked this video is because it has German subtitles already in, and I also know a bit German, so I can actually vouch what is being said. I'll just remove the empty audio tracks, and now I'll go to the timeline, create subtitles from audio, and make it. And just so I can see the subtitles. pickup, she said Ich will sagen, not Ich würde sagen.
Speaker 2: And it's the same in the subtitles.
Speaker 1: As you could hear, she said Ich will sagen, which if I'm not mistaken, is kind of the same as if I would say, I will say, or I would say. Now let's go to the transcription, so with this selected, we have the same option here, transcribe audio, you can right-click on the clip, and also transcribe it from this one, so audio transcription, but now you also have the option, if right-click, to clear the transcription, so let's transcribe it first, and then get rid of it. Now the first thing that you may notice is this, and these are the pauses, which you can double-click on them, to remove. Now it's striked through, you can double-click to select a word, or triple-click to select the whole paragraph, and if you want to remove all of the silent pauses at once, so you don't have to click on them like this, and press delete, or the backspace, you can simply go here and remove silent portions, and this will remove all of them, and I didn't even see this one in the middle. So I just noticed that this transcription was made for the whole audio, but I just want this transcription to be made for the section of the video that I want. Now when I have set the in and out points, this is what was selected, if I now put this as append, it does not want to do it, why not, let me select it manually then, so now it did it, and now what I'll do is I'll remove the silent portions, which it does not want to do, if I select this again, it also does not want to do it, so I'll do it manually, but I actually just want to import this section. So now I'll append this one, so this is now how it looks like when it's cut, and this is how it looks like when it's uncut. So all in all, this section is now 39 seconds long, but this one, 54, this one is 1 minute and 5 seconds long, and what I'll do now is I'll right-click and put this back, just so we can see how it actually looks like when it's original, and maybe you want to keep the pauses. So this is how you can do that, previously this was not possible in beta 2, but now you can remove the transcription if you don't need it. And that's it for today, we'll do something different in the next video, but if you like this one, give it a thumbs up, subscribe to the channel, and until next time jackals, keep it digital.
