+1 (831) 222-8398Speaker 1: Hello, I'm Chris Menard, in this Microsoft Teams video, I'm going to take a look at the new live caption enhancements from Teams. So I did a video on live captions back in July, and the one item we noticed is that it doesn't show you who is speaking, which is actually a really big deal. That has now been fixed. So in this video, Christian is going to join me and we're going to test live captions. We're going to discuss Teams on the desktop, Teams on the web, using the mobile app with live captions, how it handles punctuation. Also we'll take a look at what happens when you record using live captions. So I'll get into Microsoft Stream for just a little bit. I'm going to go ahead and get Christian involved. And one thing that's cool about this, this works in Teams with a chat, a group chat, and obviously with a meeting when you're in a channel. So let me go ahead and pull Christian into a meeting with me. Hey, this is Chris. I am in a meeting with Christian. We want to show you how live captions work. So I'm going to go up to more actions and turn them on. By the way, I mentioned this earlier, live captions works no matter what in the desktop version. But if you want to see specifically who is speaking, you must be in this new Teams meeting experience, which means your toolbar will be up in the top right corner. If it's not on the top right, if it's hanging down in the bottom middle, you'll see live captions, but you won't know who's speaking. So I'm going to go ahead and turn on live captions. Let's give this a test. We're going to try some punctuation. Hey, Christian, how are you?
Speaker 2: Hey, good.
Speaker 1: All right, so this live captions apparently showing who is speaking.
Speaker 2: That's a good improvement.
Speaker 1: It seems to be picking up punctuation.
Speaker 2: Yeah, that's true. Let's see. Do you understand that this is a question?
Speaker 1: Yeah, I do. There you go. I guess it wanted to make sure you were done talking.
Speaker 2: Yeah, I guess it takes a while for it to send the whole phrase up to the cloud and analyze it.
Speaker 1: I do want to make one note that if somebody was to record this, those live captions do not get recorded, but Microsoft Stream has a captions feature which will show these to you. So you can still technically get them.
Speaker 2: But I don't think that one does speaker recognition.
Speaker 1: That is true. But if we're both recording and both on video, you would see who's speaking at least. Yeah, that's true. One other note I want to make is that if this does not work on Teams on the web, it does work in one-on-one chats. It works in group chats. And it works in team channel meetings. So they seem to cover it all.
Speaker 2: Yeah, it's very good.
Speaker 1: It's fast and accurate. Yeah. All right, Christian, that was it.
Speaker 2: Yeah, no problem. Have a good one.
Speaker 1: I'll talk to you early in the morning.
Speaker 2: Okay, bye. Bye-bye. Bye-bye.
