[00:00:00] Speaker 1: Welcome back. We're making another video today in one day, one singular day. Take a look at the time right there, it's about to be 1pm. Also, it's the day after Memorial Day, so I'm kind of hungover on burgers and hot dogs. Let's see if that affects me today. As always, we got our trusty spinner here. Let's see what we're gonna be doing today. What does fate have for us today? Today we're making... a vlog. Okay. This one is kind of perfect because it's very open-ended. It can be a vlog about anything. I first thought it was maybe vlogging me getting a car wash because I have to do that, but probably not the best idea to be tinkering with the camera while driving. Let's see. It's really nice out today. Actually, I take that back. It's not nice out. It's very hot out and there is a difference. But maybe it could be fun to like vlog me going on a nice little bike ride. That could be interesting. It'll get my cardio in for the day. But it also means that I have to go on a bike ride right now. So that's a big commitment. You know what? Fine. I guess we'll do a bike ride. I'm trying to think of anything else I can do because I just don't feel like doing that right now. But I can't think of anything, unfortunately. So I'm just gonna have to take the L and go on a bike ride. Whatever, man. Let's go do this stupid vlog. Okay, so since I'm going to be riding my bike today, I figured, you know, I'd want to take my actual camera with me. I have a bike mount for it somewhere. I just don't remember where. But I also remember it being like, I didn't really trust it. So I'm just gonna take my phone since I already have a phone mount. Let's change into bike ready attire. With the power of editing. Three, two, one. Ready to go. All right, I'm gonna start filming my actual vlog now. So I will see you after my bike ride. I'll probably be infinitely sweatier by then. Okay, just finished my bike ride. As you can imagine, very tired. Now it's time to dump our footage and freshen up so we can start editing this thing. Okay, we are officially done with our bike ride. So by the time I freshened up a little bit. Now, I didn't have the time to just full-on hop in the shower. So we're gonna be a little gross for this. Because it's already, as you can see, 3.18. And I wanna finish this by no later than, again, like 5.30. So we just don't have time to hop in the shower. But you know what they say. You can shower when you're dead. I think that's the saying. So I know, I know. Before you come at me, I know it's gross. But I have to do it, okay? I'm gonna run and die. Now, as you can see, there is a lot of footage here. So I have about 27 A-roll clips. Which are clips where I'm just like talking to the camera. And I have about six B-roll clips. So basically, the way I recorded this, it wasn't the most efficient. Because I didn't have like a GoPro or anything like that. Or even a proper horizontal bike mount for my phone. It was only a vertical bike mount. So the entire shot of me riding my bike is just like a vertical video. Which obviously isn't ideal for a horizontal video. But I also just wanted to get some B-roll of like where I was riding. So I did one more lap around. And just kind of like recorded a POV shot. Very shakily with one hand. So I'll just go ahead and say it. The footage we have for this vlog is not ideal. Which is unfortunate. Because usually when you have not ideal footage. You kind of have to make up for it in the edit. But we also have not a lot of time to edit. So everything is kind of working against us here. So we got to get into this. So the first thing I'm going to do is. I'm just going to take all my A-roll footage. And I'm just going to plop it into my timeline. So we have about 36 minutes of footage here. We want to chop this down to like six or seven minutes. I feel like for these challenges. Where I usually only have a couple hours to edit. Six to seven minutes is like the perfect amount of time. So I think I'm just going to go through and rough cut this video. And then after we have a rough cut. We'll worry about like adding in the B-roll and stuff like that. Maybe adding in some effects. And adding in some music tracks. And I think that should be good enough for a vlog. Okay, so I have about a minute and 28 so far. I kind of changed my mind on the length of it. I think it can be a little bit longer. Because I feel like vlogs. They can be looser. They can be a little bit more relaxed and like chill. So I'm not locked at six or seven minutes. Because I don't think the longer time means. I'm going to have that much more editing to do. Now for this part here. Where I'm actually on the bike. And it's vertical. These black spaces look so ugly. So I think what I'm going to do is. I'm just going to copy the script track. And paste it here. And then I'm just going to bring it behind. Right like that. Then I'm just going to add a nice little blur to it. Nice big blur. Maybe in the color adjustments. We'll lower the exposure just a tad. So it'll look like this. Which is not that much better. But it's a lot better than just plain black bars you know. So yeah again. Having this be entirely vertical is not ideal. But it's all I had. So you know we got no choice but to make it work. Okay I just finished rough cutting my video. And I actually had to cut out a lot less than I was anticipating. Which I guess is good. It's now 4 44. So at most we have about 45 minutes. What I'm going to do now is. I'm just going to watch over this and add effects as I go. And I'm just going to employ the rule of. If it's not essential. We can move on. One effect I know I'm going to add is here. Where I'm just where I'm just hopping. Hello. I'm going to add a little zoom in there. So let's do that real quick. I'll add two scenes here. We'll add the zoom in starting here. And let's see if Ken Burns. If just adding the Ken Burns effect does anything for me. Make it fast. Hello. Yeah that's what you call an effect done baby. All right so yeah. Now let's just keep going and adding effects where we see fit. Okay this is the last b-roll that I think we will add. By the way fun fact I almost crashed here. Because I ran over that pothole. If it wasn't for my extreme superhuman like balance. I would have I would have crashed out. I don't even know if we can throw music in here. To be honest I would like to. I don't know if we'd have the time to. But the good news is even if we don't have the time to add music. Which it's looking very likely. I don't think that's a big problem. Obviously we'll be better with music. But this is not something that is like it absolutely needs music. This definitely feels like a little bit more chill of a video. This feels like something you'll you'll watch. And half pay attention to while you're eating your lunch. Which a lot of times is like the only thing that a successful video needs to accomplish. Okay we're done. We're done. I'm gonna call it there. We finished a little bit early. Four minutes to spare. But we didn't add any any audio to this. Which sucks. I would I would like to have done that. At least add a little sort of background music. Because a little bit of background music goes a long long way. But by the time I chose the song I wanted to. And added it in. And extended it for the entire video. I would have gone over time. But yeah we have a finished video. And publish. Done. Easy. Breezy. Beautiful cover girl. I have my qualms with this video. I don't know if that's a word. I don't know if I used it right. I'm trying to say I have I have my issues with this video. One I don't like that it's vertical. It's not the end of the world. I just would have preferred horizontal. Two I would have liked a little bit more b-roll. It was just hard to capture. Because I was by myself and biking with one arm. And three I would have liked better audio. Like literally better recorded audio. And adding music and sound effects. The video has its problems. But despite all that we still did it. So for all the things I don't like about this video. I'm still gonna pat myself on the back. I can't I can't reach back there right now. I'm too tired. And say overall a success. So that's it for me. I'm gonna go actually take a shower now. Because I it's just you don't want to know what's going on under these clothes. And I'll see you in the next one. Bye.

Arow Summary
The creator spins a challenge wheel and lands on making a vlog, deciding to film a bike-ride vlog despite the heat and low motivation. They record mostly A-roll on their phone, then return home to quickly offload footage and edit under a tight deadline without showering to save time. In the edit, they rough cut 36 minutes down to a looser vlog length, fix vertical riding footage by duplicating and blurring the background to avoid black bars, and add a few simple effects like a quick zoom. With little time left, they skip adding background music and publish the finished video, acknowledging issues (vertical footage, limited B-roll, and audio) but considering the challenge a success before finally going to shower.

Arow Key Takeaways
  • Open-ended prompts (like “make a vlog”) still benefit from a simple plan and a concrete activity.
  • When forced to use vertical footage in a horizontal edit, duplicating the clip and blurring it behind can reduce the impact of black bars.
  • Under tight deadlines, prioritize a clean rough cut first, then add only essential effects or B-roll.
  • Background music helps, but publishing on time can be more important than perfect polish.
  • Solo filming on a bike limits B-roll options; consider safer mounts or a GoPro-style setup for future shoots.
Arow Sentiments
Neutral: The tone mixes reluctance and self-deprecating humor with determination and mild pride. Frustration shows around heat, vertical footage, and limited time, but it resolves into satisfaction at finishing and publishing the video.
