[00:00:00] Speaker 1: Everyone's talking about AI notetakers, but here's what no one really tells you. They don't actually all work in the same way. Some are built around the meeting itself, some are designed to analyze your conversations, and others are much more focused on simply capturing what was said. And honestly, if you're just looking at the AI summary they give you, it's quite hard to understand what actually makes them different. So in this video, I'm going to break down the three biggest ones, Fellow, Firefly, and HappyScribe, and see which one is best for you. And I think the easiest way to find the difference is to ask one question. What do you actually want from your AI notetaker to do? Well, let's start things off with Fellow. Fellow is probably the easiest one to describe because it's much more than just a notetaking tool, because it's basically a meeting coach. Before your meeting, you can create collaborative agendas, and during the meeting, you can capture notes and action items. And afterwards, you can actually assign those notes and action items to people with due dates. You can also get things like meeting reminders, automated post-meeting recaps, and even a meeting cost calculator. So if you're managing a team or constantly having those one-to-ones, stand-ups, or reoccurring meetings, this approach probably makes sense. Because Fellow isn't only asking what happened in this meeting, it's also asking how do we make this meeting even better? And that's where, for me, Fellow really stood out. Then on the other hand, you have Fireflies. And Fireflies is much more of an analyst. Because once you have loads of conversations, the interesting thing isn't necessarily what happened in that one meeting. It's what all those collective of meetings are telling you. Fireflies builds up a searchable library of your conversations. So instead of manually going through hundreds of transcripts, you can just start searching for patterns like what are your customers complaining about? What objections keep coming up? Which competitors are people mentioning? And that's a very different way of thinking about AI note-taking. Because you're not just asking what happened in this meeting, you're asking what can I learn from all my meetings? Or if you're working in sales or managing a team that's having hundreds of conversations, that can become really useful. And then there's HappyScribe, with the biggest difference of all three. Because while Fellow is focused on improving the meeting, and Fireflies is focused on analysing your conversations, HappyScribe is much more focused on capturing the conversation itself. So I personally think of HappyScribe as the recorder. You can record a Zoom call, an interview, a meeting in person, or even just a voice note when you're walking out somewhere. You don't need a meeting bot for those in-person meeting recordings, and you can even record offline and upload the recording once you're back online. And this in particular is useful if you're working across different languages, because HappyScribe supports more than 150 languages and dialects. But what's also important is what you get after the recording, because you're not just getting an AI summary anymore. You get the actual recording alongside the transcript, with speaker detection and timestamps. So if someone says something important 40 minutes into an interview, you can find it in the transcript and jump straight back into that exact moment in the recording. And honestly, that's a pretty big difference when you're working with interviews, content, and research, because you're no longer just trusting an AI summary, because you can actually go back and hear exactly what was said. And here's the part I think is most important when comparing these tools, because Fellow and HappyScribe are barely even competitors, because they're really answering different questions. Fellow is more about making your meetings more structured, shorter, and actionable. Firefly is about taking all those conversations and making them searchable and analyzable. And HappyScribe is about capturing conversations and turning them into something you can actually use afterwards. So now you may be asking, which one should I choose? If your manager is drowning in one-to-ones, stand-ups, and recurrent meetings, then Fellow is probably the best one for you. If you're a team having hundreds of conversations and you want to understand the patterns in between each one, then Firefly is great. And if you're recording interviews, real-life conversations, working across multiple languages, or simply just want a really good recording and transcript, that's exactly when I would look at HappyScribe. Because I think that's the biggest thing to understand with AI note-takers. You shouldn't just choose one because it has the nicest AI summary, because they can all summarize a meeting. Instead, actually think of what you want to do after the meeting's actually over. Because once you look at it that way, the difference becomes a lot clearer. Because Fellow makes meetings better. Firefly makes conversations analyzable. And HappyScribe makes conversations become useful long after they've happened.
