[00:00:00] Speaker 1: You can be the best lawyer in the world and not be successful because it's not only about how you practice law. There are so many other things that go into becoming a successful firm and I know all too well how that goes and what is required. Clients can be very demanding. They expect a lot from you as their lawyer. All the while you have to manage billing, you have to ensure you're meeting your billable hours requirement or if it's your own law firm you have to make sure that you're billing as much as you need to in order to keep the lights on. I practiced at a pretty big law firm in San Diego, California right after graduating from law school. I spent about four or five years at that law firm and then I decided that it was time to go and start my own practice. I was a criminal defense lawyer. Communication wasn't an issue for me as much. But now in my own firm, major issue. And so I got a complaint from a client. And at the end of the day, I felt this was, it's so unreasonable to have this complaint. I should be able to communicate and share things with my client in a very easy way. And there was nothing out there to help me do that. And so I just decided that it was time that I start a company that actually does that. There are plenty of tools out there that help lawyers lawyer better. Very few tools that are out there to help lawyers lawyer better. And that is what Lawmatics is designed to do. Help them be better at the things that they weren't taught in law school, how to run the business, how to manage relationships, how to do things that are going to increase their revenue. If you eliminate stress on the lawyer and they're able to focus more on being a lawyer, it frees everybody in the firm up. And the beauty of this is now the lawyer can just focus on lawyering and the staff can focus on making sure that cases are handled properly, that everything is in order. That the office is running smoothly. We are really trying to become the backbone, become the foundation, to become the operating system for the smart firm of the future. To us, a smart firm is one that is incredibly efficient and utilizes technology to run every aspect of their firm that they possibly can. Right. And to give them a laser focus on just practicing law and letting technology help them with every other aspect of their law firm and their business and their client relationships. And their client communication. I know what it's like to be a lawyer. I know what it's like to start my own law firm. I know what it's like to have my entire livelihood, my family and everybody relying on how that law firm succeeds as a business. Because it's not only about how you practice law. There are so many other things that go into becoming a successful firm to help lawyers get to that point where they don't have to worry anymore. They don't have to stress. I have a happy lawyer in the firm, a happy partner, and then the rest of the office is going to be pretty happy as well. And I've been there and I've experienced them. And I've just committed the last decade or more than decade, 12, 13 years of my life to helping lawyers ensure that they don't have to feel like that moving forward.

He founded Lawmatics to act as an operating system for “smart firms,” using technology to improve efficiency, client communication, workflow, and revenue so lawyers can focus on practicing law and reduce stress across the firm.
