Speaker 1: In this video, I'll show you how you can easily add subtitles or closed captions to your video files inside Google Drive. Hi, my name is David and if this is your first time watching my video tutorials, and you get any value from the content that you watch, kindly consider subscribing. Here's a disclaimer, I already have the subtitle files, the SRT subtitle files to my video. So this video is only to show you how you can add captions or subtitles to the videos inside Google Drive. So that's out of the way, and let's begin. So I've already created a folder and titled it sample folder inside my Google Drive. And all I need to do now is drag in my video file, because you'll need a video file for this. And the reason why you may need to use Google Drive and add subtitles and closed captions to your video is because you may need to use this particular video that you're adding here as a sample to show your clients that you can do subtitling and closed captions. So this could be your sample video, so that when you're trying to apply for work from different people, you can use this as your sample folder. So that's out of the way. And now that our video is uploaded, all you need to do to add subtitles and captions is right click on your video, right click. And once you right click, scroll down to Manage Caption Tracks, and you click on that. And once you click on Manage Caption Tracks, you'll have your video preview on this side. And then there's a captions option here, add new caption tracks. And at the moment, there is no caption track added. So I'll just click on the plus and you'll either upload from inside Google Drive, or you can just upload from your desktop or anywhere else that you have your files. So just click on select file and navigate to the folder with my subtitles. I have a bunch of subtitles here. And I'll begin with the first one, let's say I want to upload an English subtitle. I know this one is an English SRT file. So I'll just click on it, it's going to upload and the default upload section is in your Google Drive. And once it uploads, it loads up here. So by default, the language that is selected is English. So if your subtitle file or caption file is in a different language, ensure you change to the appropriate language. So once you confirm this, you can just click on Upload. So there we have it, the SRT file has been uploaded. If you want to add some more, let's just add one one more to click on Upload. Select a file from your device. And since I know this one is an Arabic file, I'll just click on it, click on Open. And the reason why I uploaded this one is because this one as for Arabic subtitles, you read them, it's a right to left kind of subtitle or language. So just come to the language, and then press on A and then select Arabic. And once you're done, click on Upload. And there we have it, it's been uploaded. You can keep doing that for the different files that you want to keep uploading until you're satisfied with the number of files that you wanted to offer as a sample. And we can do a final one. Let's say this one is Russian. Let's just do a Russian subtitle, just click on Open. And once you do that, just come here again to the language, press R to navigate to the Russian section, just click on that and upload. Now we have three caption tracks here, Russian, Arabic and English. Let's do a preview from the pop out here, just click on that. And we preview how our subtitles or captions look like. And as you can see, the type of window that we get here is more or less like what we have on YouTube. So if you click on play, you'll almost get an identical layout that we get actually it's an identical layout with the YouTube interface. So you can just click on the settings and then see if your subtitles are available Arabic, English, Russian. And by default, I think the English is selected because I uploaded it first. And we can start off by selecting the Arabic one and playing the video. And since the CC here is already available, then the subtitles are on, just click on play.
Speaker 2: With the recent update on the YouTube interface, it's now easier than before to download YouTube.
Speaker 1: So we can appreciate the Arabic subtitles have been availed and they are in the right to left because we can see the full stops are coming to your left side. So that's good. We can check out, let's say the Russian. Just click on play. You transcripts. Hi, my name is David from freelance. So that's good. Let's also look at the English one. Let's say English. So there we have it. Hi, my name is David from freelancerinsights.com etc etc. So that's out of the way. What if you wanted to download the subtitles? Let's just close this out. And you're back in your folder where you have the video with the subtitle tracks. So all you need to do is just right click on the video, manage caption tracks, it's going to open up the caption tracks again. So let's say you just wanted to send the file as an SRT, just come and click on this particular three dots, three vertical dots and click on download. You can also edit or delete. So let's say you wanted to download, just click on download, it's going to download onto your computer in your downloads section. So and there we have it. And the default subtitle file that downloads even though I uploaded an SRT file is something called an SBV file. So if you're wondering how to convert an SBV file back to your SRT file, kindly check out the tutorial linked in the card above so that this doesn't give you a lot of problems. But if we decided to edit, let's try with the English because that's what I can understand. Just click on Edit. And there's nothing much that you can edit other than the language, the title and to ensure if it's enabled or disabled. So just click on Save. And that's it. That's how you can easily add subtitles and closed captions to your videos in Google Drive. I hope that this video has been beneficial to somebody out there that's looking to share their work with clients or to host their videos on Google Drive. Thank you so much for watching this video. And until next time, never stop learning and kindly subscribe to my YouTube channel. Thank you for watching.
