Speaker 1: In this Shotcut tutorial, we will show how to burn subtitles into a video using a simple web app, and a SubRip file. A SubRip file has a quite simple format as shown here. Each subtitle has a number, a range for when it appears on screen, the text, and an empty line terminator. Some video sites, such as YouTube and Vimeo, allow you to upload the SubRip file separately, so you don't necessarily need to burn in the subtitles. Such files can be created using a simple text editor, or a dedicated app, like Aegisub, or the app I have created, that is on my website. The web app we'll be using is in the Shotcut Resources section of my website, at the address given in the description. Basically, you need to provide the app with the MLT project file to which you wish to apply the subtitles, and the SubRip file itself. There are various options to tailor to your liking how the subtitles will be displayed in the video. Therefore, if you are нет surgery, please refer to the link in the description with more information about the SubRip echelon. This bin shop will do it all. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Once you are happy with the result, you press the Download MLT button, and the app creates an MLT file, displaying the subtitles on a transparent background. You then add the MLT file, as a clip, to a track above your video in your original MLT file. We are using Shotcut version 22.01.30. This is the video we are using. It is the first 47 seconds of the Tears of Steel movie.
Speaker 2: We have main engine start. Three, four, three, two, one.
Speaker 3: You're a jerk, Tom. Look, Celia, we have to follow our passions. You have your robotics, and I just want to be awesome in space.
Speaker 4: Why don't you just admit that you're freaked out by my robot hand? I'm not freaked out by it.
Speaker 5: All right, fine. I'm freaked out. I'm having nightmares that I'm being chased by these giant robotic claws. Oh, whatever, Tom. We're done.
Speaker 1: To add the subtitles, we create a new track above the movie track. Then we open the subtitle MLT file, as a clip, and copy it to this track. This is the result. When you export the movie, the subtitles will be burned into it.
