+1 (831) 222-8398Speaker 1: In this short tutorial, I'll show you how to easily split audio into smaller segments or files for transcription purposes using WavePad. Hi, my name is David from FreelancerInsights.com where we believe you should never stop learning. For the purposes of this video, we'll be using the free version of WavePad and I have an audio file that I need to split. This is the audio file that I need to split and it's about nine minutes and I want to split it into half. And the reasons why you may need to split audio files is so that you can work on a particular segment during a particular hour so that you don't burn out or find yourself losing concentration when working on longer files. So you can easily use this for longer files than nine minutes, maybe a one hour file and you split it into smaller segments of 10 minutes each. So what we need to do is we have our file. Since I already have WavePad installed, WavePad sound editor, I'll provide links in the description for where you can get the free version. And this is the non-commercial use. So what we need to do is since my file is already open, I can just drag and drop it into the canvas here. Once I drop it, it shows you the length just here. The only option we need to do from this is just come to the split button and then come to split into equal parts. You can also select split automatically or split as silences. This can help you if you want to avoid cutting a conversation. But for this video, we want to split into equal parts. So I'll click on that. And the new small window that loads has the options that you've chosen. And you can still check out the others. And we want to split into something like two parts. Let's say two. If I say three, then that means you need to reduce the minutes since our audio file is just nine minutes. We just need two segments of let's say about five minutes. Five minutes. And you can also, depending on the length of your audio file, you can also set the parameters as you require. So hours, minutes, seconds, microseconds. So next up, you need to go and check out the folder where you're going to save it. My output location is already set. And the output name. The output name is the same. Then the output format. So you can choose from a couple of formats that are available, FLAC, WAV, WMA. But I'll just go with the MP3. And for the MP3, I'll go with 192. Constant bitrate. I can also do 128, but let's do 192. And just click OK. And then once you're satisfied with your selection here, just click on split. So now we see a folder here only has one file, but after hitting split, every file is split at its own time. So for example, the file will be split at around four minutes, give or take where we set it. And it's going to finish and be exported. Once it's exported or saved, it's going to be section one. And if we look at our folder, we now see a couple of files. If we look at actually even the sizes, you'll notice that one is already complete. This one is still at 0 KB. And it's almost done. And that's it. So both files are already split into two. So the five minute file and the four minute two second and they're making up the total length of the video file, which was nine. So basically, if you want to split audio files to outsource the work to other people so that they can help you out with the transcription, or you just want to split the files so that you can transcribe each particular file during its own period without sitting down for lengthy periods, then this is an easy way that you can do it. It's something that works and works very, very well. Thank you so much for watching this video. Kindly subscribe to the channel. And until next time, never stop learning.
