Speaker 1: In today's video, we're going to demonstrate how to enable and disable audio description on Netflix. Hey everyone, welcome back to another Blind to Billionaire video. In today's video, we're going to be showing you how to enable and disable audio descriptions on Netflix. If it's something new to you, it's actually a really nice feature on Netflix. They also have it on other movies and TV shows. It's just basically narration of all the non-verbals on a movie or TV show. So it's really nice. We're going to head over to the TV and show you how to enable it, and then we will catch you on the other side. So stay tuned, and we'll show you audio description. All right, so here we are. We're at the TV, and we have Netflix pulled up, and we're going to have Kori describe from here how to get into audio description and enable it, and she's going to walk you through the steps.

Speaker 2: So hey guys, this is Kori. I'm going to use Fuller House as an example of a TV show that I know has audio description. You can also search in the search engine on Netflix audio description, and it will pull up all the shows that have that. But just as a way to enable it, I'm going to show you how to do that. So I'm going to click on Fuller House, and then what I'm going to do is go down to the audio and subtitles section. I'm going to click on that, and then it says here like audio, like subtitles are off, which is fine. What I want to do is choose English audio description, and I'm going to click on that, and then it is going to give you subtitles. So I'm going to be quiet while that happens, and you can kind of hear how the subtitles work. Okay, so I'm going to get out of that, and then I'm going to show you. Okay, here we are.

Speaker 3: Okay, guys, I am just going to stop it right here.

Speaker 2: You can see how it does such a nice job of describing the intro to this TV show. Matt, do you want to comment on that at all from your perspective? Yeah, it's actually really nice because I'm sitting here staring at the screen.

Speaker 1: I can just see a really bright screen shining at me, but I don't know anything that's going on. But that audio description, it's really cool because I could visualize all of them in the car, driving across the Golden Gate Bridge, and then whatever else was happening. So yeah, that was actually pretty cool. Yeah, it does a really nice job.

Speaker 2: Another thing that I just want to say is I've watched a bunch of shows now with subtitles. So this show, it's like an American family with American accents, like not British or anything. But if you watch a show that has British characters, they might have a British audio descriptor. Like if you're watching a creepy show, the audio describes kind of in a creepy way. It's really, really nice. They do a great job. And we're picking Netflix to highlight because this is what we're most familiar with. And I just also wanted to say that it seems that a lot of Netflix originals have subtitles. I'm not 100% sure about a variety of TV shows, but it seems like the Netflix original series and movies do have subtitles for audio description available. But now I'm going to show you how to turn this off if you decide you don't want it anymore. This will also show you how to turn on audio description if you are in the middle of your show and you're like, okay, this isn't working. So I'll show you what to do. So I'm going to unpause this and then describe it. So I'm going to turn the sound on the TV down a little bit just so that it's easier. So what we're going to do is I'm going to scroll up on my remote. And then Audio and Subtitles comes up. It's like the first thing that kind of pops up here. Oopsie daisies, I did this wrong. Let me just take a second. So I click up. Oops, I click up. Let me try again. Okay, I had to click up twice. Audio and Subtitles, I'm going to click on that. And then to the right of the screen pops up Subtitles. It says Off. It's okay for subtitles to be off because I'm not having words across the screen. Then I go down to the Audio section. And then it says English Audio Description. That is the subtitle that I'm using. There's also different types of languages you can choose. But then the original, it says next to it is English because we're English speaking. So then I'm just going to push English. And then that will turn off the subtitles. But if you wanted to turn them on, then you would just click English Audio Description. So I'm going to turn that off. And so then I just go down, and then it starts playing. And then there's no more subtitles. So I hope this wasn't too convoluted. I think it's helpful. Matt, do you have anything else to add?

Speaker 1: No, I think that was pretty well done. I really enjoy the Audio Description because right now I just listen to a little bit of the show, and it's like, oh, I have no clue what's going on anymore.

Speaker 2: It's funny. I like a plug for Fuller House, but I love Fuller House. I think it's super funny. Matt has not really watched it a lot with me. And we just watched a few minutes before we started taping. And Matt was laughing his head off because they describe people in the show as slender or suave or young-looking or in shape. I mean, they kind of describe people, and it's pretty funny. So it's actually cited or not cited. It's pretty nice, and it does not bother me to have subtitles on as a sighted person.

Speaker 1: Exactly. It's almost like listening to an audiobook to some degree.

Speaker 2: It is. The only thing, I think it might be a little challenging to get to the Audio Description if you are totally blind. I think it might be a little bit frustrating, but I'd like to hear your feedback on your comfort level of this and how it goes for you.

Speaker 1: Exactly. All right. That is it. That is how you enable and disable Audio Description on Netflix. Like you could see in the demonstration, it's a really cool feature. It allows us who are blind or visually impaired to enjoy a movie or a TV show and still enjoy all of the non-verbals that we're not able to actually see on the TV. So a really cool feature. It's really nice that these places are looking out for us, the blind and visually impaired community. All right. So let's get into the shout out for today's video. That is going to be for My Blind Mama's Messy Kitchen. Jerry, congratulations. I love your videos. Thanks for being here. And if you're new here, I'd love it if you subscribe.
