Speaker 1: SubtitleEdit. This is one of the most amazing free programs I've ever seen. I've started using this program a while ago to add translations and subtitles to my videos, and it works great. But instead of doing all this manually, it can be done automatically, including the translations. SubtitleEdit has a beta version that is just incredible. The beta version is portable, so you don't have to uninstall your regular version.
Speaker 2: In this video, I'll show you how to make these incredible features work. Write SubtitleEdit in Google Search. Go to the Nixer website. Click on Download in the left pane.
Speaker 1: Scroll down to Assets. Click on SubtitleEditBetaZip. This will download the zip file to your PC.
Speaker 2: Go to your Downloads folder and unzip the file. Open the folder.
Speaker 1: Run the SubtitleEditX file. I think it's preferable to create a shortcut to that X file. Click on the Video menu and click on Open a Video File. Browse to open a video file. You'll be prompted to install Video Player. Click on Download and use Video Player MPV. Click OK after the download and automatic install. Your video will now open. Again, click on the Video menu. Click on Video Audio to Text. You'll get a prompt to download FFmpeg. Click OK. FFmpeg was downloaded and is ready for use. Click OK. Next prompt, Download Libfosk. Click OK. Fosk was downloaded and is ready for use. Click OK. Next prompt, Audio Video to Text. Click on the three dots next to Choose Model. A new prompt will appear, Download Vosk Models. Choose your language. The language that you're choosing is the spoken language of your video or audio that will be converted to text. You can add other languages later on. I'll show you later.
Speaker 2: Click Download. Now you're ready to go. Click Generate and watch the magic. Transcribing audio to text. Wow.
Speaker 1: Check the preview of the SRT file for errors. Play the video. It shows subtitles and at the right places. This isn't all. Wait for more magic.
Speaker 3: What a filthy job. Could be worse. How? Could be rainy.
Speaker 1: Click the Auto Translate menu.
Speaker 2: Click Auto Translate. Choose your language. I choose Hebrew. Click Translate. Click OK.
Speaker 1: I don't have a Google key. Instant Translation. Click OK. Now in the preview view, in my case the first line is the translation of the thumbnail of the video, so I just deleted this. You can see the original text and its translation side by side. You can make changes if necessary. Now Hebrew is the right-to-left language, so you can see that the text alignment is wrong and also the punctuation marks are at the wrong side. More magic to come. Go to the Edit menu. Put the mark next to right-to-left mode. Play the video again and now it is Hebrew subtitled. Click to add waveform.
Speaker 3: What a filthy job. Could be worse. How? Could be rainy.
Speaker 1: To save the translated subtitles, go to File, Save As.
Speaker 2: To save the original subtitles, go to File, Save Original Subtitle As.
Speaker 1: To save the video with burnt-in subtitles, Video, Generate Video with Burnt-in Subtitles. This will be the translation if generated. To add more languages or other models of the language for speech recognition, do the following. Go to the Video menu. Click on Video Audio to Text. Click on Vosk website. From the model list, make your pick according to language, size of the file and notes. I've downloaded the Large Accurate English Model and the Indian English Model and the Dutch Model.
Speaker 2: After downloading, unzip. Put the folder inside the Vosk folder, which is inside the subtitle. Restart the subtitle beta folder. Restart the program. And now, when you go to the Video menu, Open Video, Video Audio to Text, you choose one of the models you've just added.
Speaker 1: The clip that I've subtitled and translated is a very short one. And the program handled this without any problem, as you could see. But please keep in mind that this is a beta version that might have all kinds of bugs. For example, during a longer video I worked on, the program went black and became unresponsive for maybe half a minute or so. But it came back all by itself and did the job. Maybe to make things easier for your processor, strip the audio from your video, generate subtitles and translation in a SRT file and afterwards combine everything together.
