Speaker 1: My name's Kristen and I'm an audio describer at Red Bee Media. There are two main parts to the job, writing the script and then recording it.

Speaker 2: Bright sunshine dapples through thick foliage. At a modern glass-fronted office block, a man walks up some stairs. He holds his pass against an electronic pad and the door swings open. He presses some buttons on a control panel. A clock ticks around.

Speaker 1: We've developed our software over the years and we can do everything in it. Scripting, voicing, and re-versioning. We can even be scripting in a file while someone else is voicing the script behind us in the same file. It's not unusual to complete a whole program from start to finish in a single day. I could be writing a script at my desk and then pop around to the booth just a few minutes later. Our dedicated audio recording booths are on-site. They're soundproofed and we produce transmission-quality recordings all with the same software. There's no need to travel to an expensive studio. Just log out of one desk and log into another one in the booth. The recording part is usually faster than the length of the show. I just jump from description to description, record, and then move on. The AD team is made up of full-time staff and we all use the same software. Some work in the office and others are based at home. But it's very easy to make changes to scripts or maybe use a different accent at a moment's notice. We try to make every step as simple as possible so we can turn files around really fast when it's needed. We have a comprehensive training program for our new scripters and voicers and we QC all of our files in-house before delivery. When it comes to delivery, I can just export the file directly to the customer. We provide plenty of different file formats. Red Bee have been creating AD for world-renowned clients for over 20 years. Today we have a team of staff based all over the world. In 2018, we produced well over 6,000 hours of AD.
