Speaker 1: The video you're about to watch depicts real events. The people you'll see are actors, but they're portraying students as they go through their interprofessional simulation exercise in our CAPE Center. This is an exercise that you'll go through as well as you progress through your interprofessional education experience. We ask that you think about the fact that these are your fellow students as you watch this. Be professional in how you view it. Be professional in how you speak about it. And think about the fact that these are your colleagues, and your goal is to help them improve their performance.

Speaker 2: Hi, Mr. Evans. Hello. Hi. My name is Sydney. I'm a medical student. They'll be taking care of you today. Okay. Can you tell me what brings you in here today?

Speaker 3: Yeah, my shoulder's been hurting me for a while. It's that one that hurts. Oh, it's this one here?

Speaker 2: Your left shoulder? Yeah. Okay. So, how did this start?

Speaker 3: I tripped over my dog a few days ago and fell on my shoulder, and it's been bothering me.

Speaker 2: Oh, so you actually fell. Okay.

Speaker 3: Yeah.

Speaker 2: Who are these folks? Well, this is your medical team here. Would you like to go ahead and introduce yourselves?

Speaker 4: Hi, I'm Frances, and I'm a pharmacist, and we're going to be helping to take care of you. I'm also a pharmacist. My name's Corey.

Speaker 2: Okay. I'm Pat.

Speaker 3: I'm your nurse.

Speaker 2: Okay. So, we're here to take care of you, Mr. Evans.

Speaker 3: What are you doing with my shirt? I'm just going to connect some leads to you. My wife was in the hallway. Can she come in, please?

Speaker 2: Oh, sure. What is your wife's name?

Speaker 3: Jamie.

Speaker 2: Jamie. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Of course. Would you mind putting Jamie out there? Okay. I'm going to go ahead and listen to your heart. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Jordan, how are you doing, baby? Your husband asked for you.

Speaker 3: Okay. I'm just still dizzy a little bit.

Speaker 4: Oh, you didn't tie your shoe.

Speaker 3: I'm still nauseated. You're nauseated still?

Speaker 4: Yeah. Oh, my gosh. Do you mind if I ask you a couple of questions? Are you allergic to any medicines?

Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm allergic to penicillin, sulfa drugs, and iodine.

Speaker 4: Okay.

Speaker 2: Okay. Right about after breakfast. Sir, you say you're feeling nauseated?

Speaker 3: Yeah, all day. All day.

Speaker 2: Okay. Do you feel like you're having any discomfort at all in your chest? A little bit.

Speaker 3: Just a little. Like, it's hard to catch my breath a little bit.

Speaker 2: You're having some trouble breathing? Sure. I know his heart rate is going up. Do you want me to give any kind of drugs? Well, no. Let's go ahead and let's get him started on some oxygen because he said he's having some trouble breathing. Like a nasal cannula? Yeah, let's do a nasal cannula and then... We should find out what meds he's on. You know what? Let's go ahead and get some Ativan. Okay. How much? Tell us what medications you're on right now.

Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm on aspirin, baby aspirin, diltiazem, zilcor, and nicotine patch for a couple of

Speaker 4: days. Baby aspirins. Let's just do standards. Zilcor. Zilcor. Diltiazem.

Speaker 2: Diltiazem? Are you taking those drugs for high cholesterol and high blood pressure? Yes. Yes, you are. Okay. And then the baby aspirin.

Speaker 3: Did you take those medications? Yeah. Okay.

Speaker 2: What are you... Ow. What are you... Well, your heart rate is just a little bit up and we think you might be just feeling a bit anxious and we noticed that you're having a little bit of trouble breathing so we're going to give you some oxygen. I just feel so dizzy right now. How much?

Speaker 4: You're dizzy now, Jordan? You're dizzy?

Speaker 2: How much? Let's just start him on about four right now. I'm sorry, baby. Yeah. So you're feeling dizzy now? Yeah.

Speaker 3: My chest feels tight.

Speaker 2: This is bad. I'm sorry, baby. Sir, we're going to go ahead and give you a medication. Oh, my God. Pushing one fifty of amiriterone. Let's also get some morphine on board here. Okay. How much morphine? Dose on morphine. Is that kind of a lot? Standard dose on morphine. Morphine. Okay. Yeah. That's going to help with the pain. And let's also do... I'm pushing morphine. Morphine. Speaker 2: All right standing clear please. Are you sure this is a shock? Stand back.

Speaker 2: All right shock administered and heart rate is going down all right good heart rate is dropping. He's going into asystole. Let's begin compressions. What's going on? Speaker 4: Checking for pulse.
