Speaker 1: Hi, my name is Mike Kellinick and I'm the product specialist for Captioning Solutions here with Evertz. Today, I'm going to introduce you to Caption Conductor. The need for captioning and subtitling has never been greater. New legislation to accommodate the hearing impaired means that almost all broadcast television requires closed captions, including real-time captioning for live programming. Meanwhile, broadcasters are adding new content while migrating to IP, virtualized facilities in the cloud, and over-the-top direct delivery to consumers through the internet. New infrastructure is required to integrate real-time captions or subtitles into these IP-centric workflows. Evertz has the solution. Caption Conductor is our new solution which addresses these needs. It utilizes IP-based technologies to securely connect real-time captioners to captioning infrastructure. This infrastructure may be physical or virtualized, on-premise or in the cloud. Caption Conductor optimizes greater viewer experience by minimizing delay with low bandwidth audio. Optionally, you can add video capabilities as a confidence monitor for both the captioner and the broadcasters alike, all of which can be accessed right in the web UI. Caption Conductor can also be integrated with existing captioning software and systems, allowing a seamless transition for caption personnel to use interfaces they're already familiar with. Caption Conductor consists of two main software components, the facility server and the access server. Either component can be installed on-premise or in the cloud as needed. The facility server interfaces with the captioning or subtitling insertion systems in the broadcast facility. This is typically co-located with the encoder infrastructure. The channel lineup and connected caption encoders can be configured using the facility server's web-based GUI. The access server is the public-facing side of the system, providing both a web-based GUI and APIs to provide connections for real-time captioners. Making the user interface simple and free from distraction helps with ensuring a free-flowing, easy-to-use environment all from the same website. No longer required to use third-party applications to listen to the audio, captioners have easy access to receive audio right in the browser. Caption encoders, located in multiple sites, are capable of utilizing a single captioner, providing the captions over IP securely. Need another captioning path? Simply add another encoder and connect it. No more need for countless loaded telephone lines. All encoders can now be connected to a single, secure IP domain. Captioning software tools, already in use today by caption service providers, can easily incorporate with Caption Conductor's capabilities, including a single sign-on authentication service through our eVerts IR portal and integration all by the means of using the eVerts available REST APIs. Caption Conductor also makes for easy troubleshooting any system discontinuities and can also integrate with syslog management systems. So in brief, here are some of the benefits and features over and above the old POTS connections. Security. Dial-up really has no means of security, whereas Caption Conductor uses a secure TLS encryption. Scalability. Caption Conductor can easily scale to the size of a system that is required by the broadcaster. Whereas using the old approach, each caption encoder requires two telephone lines and are always in use. Bandwidth. Caption Conductor uses low-bandwidth connections over IP, which allows simultaneous connections. This also allows the ability to send video, something that you're not usually familiar with with old POTS connections. Third-party integration. Some larger caption service providers have developed their own software to connect their captioners. With the use of simple APIs, this allows the ability for them to easily add support to control Caption Conductor interface from their own software.
