Speaker 1: Have you ever wanted to record a voiceover or narration and have a transcript made at the same time? Have you ever filmed a video of yourself only to realize after the fact that you said the wrong thing or gave the wrong information? Wouldn't it be nice if you could just type what you should have said and instantly fix your mistake without re-recording? If this sounds like you, then you are going to love Descript, a powerful and versatile program that takes the headache out of audio and transcription editing, plus a whole lot more. Hi, I'm Gogo with Apogee. In this video, I will walk you through some of the audio transcription functionality with Descript using Apogee's ClipMic Digital 2 to ensure I'm clearly heard and understood. First, go to www.descript.com for a product overview. They have several plans with different features and functionality, including a free trial. There are quite a few features in each plan, from free to enterprise. Every plan includes a variety of functions and features. For the purpose of this video demonstration, we will sign up for the Pro Free Trial, which gives you 7 days to try out Descript. Once you have signed up and downloaded the software, take a moment to watch the introductory tutorial, connect your Apogee ClipMic Digital 2 to your laptop or desktop, and select it as your primary audio input device in Settings. I recommend wearing a pair of wired headphones or earbuds to monitor your audio recording on playback. In the Descript Drive view, select New Project. Name it Apogee Descript and select Create Project. Select the record icon, Microphone, on the top middle section by the time code. A box will open up. Select the Recording Settings gear icon on the left. Select the Microphone input and change it to ClipMic Digital 2. Select the Track 1 text and type in your name for the speaker. Read the following paragraph from ApogeeDigital.com's ClipMic Digital 2 overview. Put some ums and filler words in your reading. If you stumble, pick up where you left off. You'll see why I asked you to do so in just a moment. Hit record and start transcribing. The Compact Lavalier Microphone Capsule. Press stop when finished recording. You'll see the text has been transcribed in the middle of your screen. Down at the bottom, you will have a waveform with the words labeled above it. Press the play-pause icon and listen to your recording. ClipMic Digital um is the perfect personal microphone solution. After you have listened to your recording, look at the text transcription. Notice that any ums have a blue underline beneath them. Right-click on your first um and select Remove Filler Words. A window appears on the left showing you where the ums are in your audio transcription. You have two options towards the bottom. Delete or ignore. Select delete and apply to all. All of your ums are now gone. Oh yeah. Select the beginning of the transcription and play your audio again. Find a section where you may have stumbled or added an unnecessary word. Select the word and hit your delete key. For the purpose of this video demonstration, I have made all my changes to the file. Now, when I play back the transcription, it flows and sounds smoother. Select Publish. Add a page name, leaving the settings as their default. Make sure Show Transcript is selected and click Publish. In a moment, a new window will open up saying Congratulations. Select Open in Browser and play back the recording. You are able to download the audio recording file by clicking on the download icon on the right. Now, let me show you an easier way to download the audio and text file with a lot more file options to choose from. Back in your Descript workspace, select Publish, then Export. You have a variety of options for cloud, file, and timeline export. Select Text under File, Export. Leave it all at default for now. Select Export. Click View and your text has been made into a Word or RTF document. Do the same steps for your audio as above. Find your audio file and listen to it. You can now use these files in a variety of projects. This is just a brief overview of the power and functionality available in Descript. As you can see, Descript has lots of export settings and features to choose from. Check out their site to see all the options that may apply to a future workflow that would work best for you. Using a professional quality microphone like Apogee's ClipMic Digital 2 is essential to capturing crystal clear audio that will sound great to your listeners and work best with apps like Descript.
