Speaker 1: In the previous lessons that I discussed to you, I talked to you about different collection methods. Today, I will be talking about how are you going to transcribe your interview. One of the data collection methods is interview. But before you can make an analysis and before you can discuss the results of your study, if your data collection method is interview, the first thing that you have to do is to transcribe your interview. So whether you conducted a structured interview or a semi-structured interview or even focused group discussion, you have to transcribe your interview or your focused group discussion. And today, class, I am going to discuss to you how are you going to transcribe an interview. Okay. Now, class, why do you need to transcribe your interview? Like I said, for you to be able to discuss the results of your study, if your data collection method is interview or focused group discussion, you have to transcribe your interview first. Okay. So this is just a simple and very straightforward tips. Okay. So let's start. I hope you learned something in this video. So how to transcribe an interview? Okay. First class, you have to have an interview recording. Okay. So you have to have an interview recording. So this is an example of an interview recording which I conducted. Now, how am I going to transcribe this recording? So it's very simple. First, I am going to play this recording, just a part of it so that you will have an idea of what are we going to do next. Okay. So while you listen, you have to take note of the things that the interviewer and the interviewee say and then you have to look at the time or the time frame when they say it. Okay. So, all right. So as you can see here, this one here, I'm moving. I'm moving the coursework. Okay. You will see the time. All right. Now, when you conduct an interview, you have to do a transcript. Okay. So look at this. This is an example transcript of this audio. All right. So you start with 0000. So this one class is for hour. This denotes the hour. This denotes the minutes and the seconds. Okay. So you have to indicate here the time. Okay. And then the one who is interviewing and the interviewee. Okay. So you can put here interviewer and interviewee. It's up to you. How are you going to name them? So as you can see in this audio recording, okay, at the start of 0000, okay, the interviewer who is the researcher. So I name it here as a researcher. Okay. So listen to this. Good afternoon, Ma'am Rhoda. All right. So I said, good afternoon, Ma'am Rhoda. So I'm going to put exactly what the person says. So I put exactly what I said in that interview. So I put here researcher. Of course, how are you going to format it? You have to put semicolon, then good afternoon, Ma'am Rhoda. Okay. So next, let's look at what time did the interviewee say, hi, good afternoon, Ma'am Marge. Okay. Let's see. Okay. So you're going to play. Good afternoon, Ma'am Rhoda. Hi, good afternoon, Ma'am Marge. Okay. So I will just ask you a few questions about. Now, as you can see, class, this, this here, the time, that's the time code. Okay. That is what we're going to put here. Okay. All right. Now, for you to find it easy, class, you can use, there are some transcription apps, okay, which you can use and transcription websites, which you can use, which will make it easier for you to transcribe your interview, or your focus group discussion. Okay, because you are just going to upload that audio, and then you can see the time. And while the time is moving, if you're playing the audio, you can already type whatever the interviewer and the interviewee are saying. Okay. All right. Look. Good afternoon, Ma'am Rhoda. Hi, good afternoon, Ma'am Marge. Okay. So I will just ask you a few questions about EBI lessons. Okay. So as you can see, class, these are the timestamps. Okay. So at this, at zero seven, okay, I said, okay, I will just ask you some questions about EBI lessons. How did it go? First, what can you say about the EBI lessons, and so on. So class, what you're going to do is you will just write exactly what the interviewer and the interviewee say in that audio, or in that file, which we're going to transcribe. Okay. So again, the important things that you should remember are, okay, what the interviewee and the interviewer are saying. Okay. And then the timestamps or the timecode. What time in that audio are they saying it? Okay. All right. So this is an example transcript. As you can see, class, it's easy to do this transcript. The only challenge is sometimes you have to listen to it over and over as you type. Okay. But if you're going to see, you will just have to type and you will just have to input in whatever the interviewer and the interviewees are saying. Okay. So this is how you do the transcript. Okay. So class, when you finish the transcript already, okay, when you already have the transcript, it becomes easy for you to do the analysis and discussion of your research. Okay. So if you are doing a research and it's qualitative, you won't be able to interpret whatever it is unless you do the transcription first. Okay. So you put those words, okay, into writing first. Class, if you want to learn something more about this one, just, you know, stay tuned in. In these video lessons that I've been doing, you can also check on some of the videos which I discussed before about the data collection methods and how to do the analysis of the data. Okay. So but this video right now is just showing you how you do the transcription. How do you put your interview into writing? Okay. So again, class, I hope you learned something from this video. If you need me to discuss any other topics about research, you know, you just simply write or type in your comment and I'm going to try to make video about that as soon as possible. Thank you very much for watching and goodbye. Oh, by the way, don't forget to hit like and subscribe. Thank you.
