Speaker 1: In this video, I'm going to teach you how to use Westlaw for legal research. It's a very quick and easy process, so make sure to follow along. Regardless of which version or type of Westlaw you have, as you can see I am using Westlaw Classic, you will be able to use it for legal research. Make sure you are signed into your account with either a trial or a subscription active, and once you arrive at this page, aka your dashboard, you can start the process of browsing through all of the articles that they have available, all the court orders, cases, etc. Everything will be available for you to view at your own pleasure. So, you can either use the search function in here and browse through different options, so you have terms, citations, databases, and you can cycle them through state, federal, court, circuit, etc. Everything will be widely available, and as you can clearly notice, since there are plenty of options to show, I won't be able to cover all of them in this video. What you would have to do is, from this page, select the specific type of material that you would like to see. So, for example, trial court cases, you will be redirected to another page, and usually when you click anything under the table of contents, you can filter them by state or topic. So, like I said, just go ahead and choose any state available, and you can see the recent documents currently published on that specific state for the option that you selected. So, for me, it's going to be trial court orders. You can then click on any of these documents, and you will be able to see them. Sometimes, you might get this warning telling you that the specific document that you selected is not going to be under your subscription agreement. So, you either have to change your subscription agreement, or call them at this number to ask further questions. I'm going to go back and find a document that is available on the trial that I have currently active, just to show you how it looks. And as you can see, when you click on any document, you will be able to see all of the pages. You can click on this option, table of authorities, to see everyone who is present in here, everything included, and everything is widely available for you. Unfortunately, there is not much information that I can give you, but you are free to do your own exploring and research as needed, as long as you have access to the website. I hope I was able to help you on how to use Westlaw for legal research. If this video helped you, please be sure to leave a like and subscribe for more quick and easy tips. Thank you for watching.
