Speaker 1: that this is different in every program, but the way that it worked in my program, which is private and small and does not offer on-campus housing, my program sends out a Google sheet, Excel sheet each year around the summertime that has a list of folks who are either looking for roommates so that you can find a place together, or folks who already are living somewhere, but maybe have a room available and are looking for a roommate to occupy one or more of the rooms. So that's a way that they facilitate connecting with other grad students. And in my first year, I did that so that I could find people to live with since I was moving from New York to California and knew no one or nothing about the housing situation. I lived there with other grad students for a little bit over a year, and then found my own apartment for my second and third year. There are obviously pros and cons to living with roommates versus living on your own, and I can cover that in another video if you wish.
