Speaker 1: Phobia around public speaking can feel like a very, very real danger. And it can have you drying up. It can have you feeling stressed out, anxious and doubting yourself and forgetting your words. I'm going to give you a trick right now. It's going to take less than 20 seconds. That's going to help you overcome that instantly. Okay? So what are you going to do? Breathe all of your air out and bring your stomach and pull it in. Don't breathe in yet. Keep breathing out. What I want you to do is hold the breath out completely until your body demands that you breathe back in. So when that happens, relax your belly, lean forward, put your hands onto your inner thigh and aim to breathe as deep as you can into your lower back, perhaps where the kidneys are, maybe even lower. Of course the lungs don't go down there, but I want you to imagine this. And as you breathe in, slow down how long it takes to take that breath in. And as you breathe out, slow down how long it takes to breathe out. You can do this a few times just before you have to go to speak, whether that's, you know, you're an educator, you're a public speaker or someone that has to give presentations or even a YouTube channel. You can do this just beforehand. And because you're no longer feeding yourself with too much oxygen, which promotes anxiety in the body and that flight or fight response that we get, your mind will be calmer and clearer. You will focus more on the words you need to share. Your body will be more relaxed and therefore more resonant and you can communicate with clarity, confidence, and ease. I really hope this helps you. Please try it out the next time that you need it. And if you'd like any more of these kinds of exercises in full detail, I have a three week course, which has seven exercises done across the course of a week, which will help you to gain, train and maintain healthy breathing habits that will support you not only as a speaker, but also through life.
