Replace Video Backgrounds in Riverside’s Editor (Full Transcript)

[00:00:00] Speaker 1: Have you ever had that moment where you just finished a recording, everything sounded great, and then you watch it back and then go, was that thing in the background the entire time? Well, maybe it's the clutter. Maybe it was a light on the wall that was off or maybe your guest just recorded in their bedroom. Well, now in the Riverside editor, you can just replace it. So let's dive in and see how it works. And I've got a sample here that I recorded with my phone that doesn't really have the most flattering background. So let's see what we can do with this. First, I'll select the speaker tile and then we can go up to the effects tab. And from here, we've got a bunch of presets for what kind of background that we want to have, whether we want to add some slight blur, some full blur, or even some transparency if we want to cut the background entirely. Or we can choose from a number of images that Riverside already includes. Now, as an example, we can sort through these and see which one kind of fits the look the most. And I think I like this one the most because it closer matches where the light was actually coming from in the original image. But you can also add your own image if you upload it from here. If you want to add stuff like your own custom branding or just a different type of background in general. So we'll go ahead and select this one here. And I like this one a lot better because I think it works much better with matching the subject, in this case, matching me. And because it looks much more similar, I can then use the color effects to give it a little bit more of a cohesive look overall. So we can add some brightness and contrast adjustments here, maybe take a little bit of that color away, and that's already looking a lot better. Now, it's important to note that the first time you add this feature to your footage, it might take a little while to process. But once the processing is done, then you can easily switch from one image or one thing to another. So whether you're adding an image that has your own personal branding on it or it's just something that needs to be consistent with a full series that you're working on, this feature is a really great way for you to incorporate it into your content. So background replacement is now in the editor and it works on what you recorded today, just as well as what you recorded a year ago. No green screen, no reshoot.
