[00:00:00] Speaker 1: Three, two, one. You know what I hate? Is trying to remember which dishes need to be hand washed or are dishwasher safe. And the one that always gets me is the SM58. This is day five of trying to break the Shure SM58. If you didn't already know, the Shure SM58 is known to be one of the most indestructible microphones out there. So in this series, we're putting it through a series of tests to see how long it lasts until it finally breaks. Today, we're going to see if it's dishwasher safe. You know, a dishwasher can get up to about 165 degrees Fahrenheit, which is pretty freaking hot. Not only are we doing a second water test somewhat, we're going to run it through a full cycle. Let's see how this goes, I guess. All right, ready? Three, two, one. All right, it looks like the cycle just finished. It's been a couple of hours. We're going to open this baby up. And there it is right where we left it. You see the wall is definitely full of water. So we might have to let this thing dry out. It's warm, but it's not it's not too hot. I'm not going to open the capsule because last time hitting it with the bat definitely sealed that shut. But there's definitely some water going on here. So we might let this thing dry out just a little bit and then we'll test it. All right, moment of truth. Let's see if this thing still works. And it still works just fine, ladies and gentlemen. We already knew this thing was waterproof, but now we mixed water and heat and ran it through a dishwasher cycle. So I think we can certifiably say that the Shure SM58 is dishwasher safe. And this microphone is still functioning, which is not OK with me. We need your help, guys. Let us know in the comments what we should do next and we'll see you on day six.

Arow Summary
A creator continues a multi-day durability test series on the famously rugged Shure SM58 microphone. On day five, they run the mic through a full dishwasher cycle (noting dishwashers can reach ~165°F). After the cycle, the mic is wet and warm, so they let it dry briefly, then test it. The SM58 still works, leading them to conclude it’s effectively “dishwasher safe,” and they ask viewers to suggest the next test for day six.

Arow Key Takeaways
  • The Shure SM58 is widely regarded as extremely durable and hard to break.
  • Running an SM58 through a full dishwasher cycle exposes it to both water and high heat (~165°F).
  • After drying a bit post-cycle, the microphone still functions normally.
  • The creator frames this as evidence the SM58 is effectively dishwasher safe.
  • Viewers are invited to propose more extreme tests for the next episode.
