[00:00:00] Speaker 1: Three, two, one. This is day six of trying to break the Shure SM58. If you didn't already know the Shure SM58 is the most indestructible microphone out there. So in this series, we're putting it through a series of tests to see how long it lasts until it finally breaks. First of all, we've been blown away by the response of all the previous videos. You guys have been awesome in the comments, giving us some great suggestions. And clearly the most popular one has been to light this thing on fire. So we're out here in the middle of the night. I've got myself a torch. We're going to light this thing on fire. Let's do it. All right, let's open up our propane tank here and open up our torch. What's the one thing that man invented first? Fire. Three, two, one. Oh. There's water dripping out. Is that from the dishwasher? The secret is a low flame over a long period. Ooh, we got smoke. I want to know what that liquid is. It could be the silicone stuff that's like inside the microphone to keep the electronics safe. I hope it's not that, because that's not good. It's on fire. It's currently burning the pop filter foam that's inside of there. It is also burning the capsule. It is burning. The capsule is on fire. Okay, I think it's added up. I think it's added up. Let this burn out. There is definitely some melted plastic in there. The pop filter foam is completely gone. So we can actually see inside of this microphone. It's definitely warm. I don't know if you can see like the inside of the mic here, the silver finishing on here is burned off and we can see the brass or bronze or whatever that's going on here. And then on the inside, the capsule, parts of the pop filter of the capsule has melted a little bit. But honestly, I think there's a good chance that this thing is still going to work. All right, we let this thing cool down a little bit while we watch the slo-mo footage back. But moment of truth, everybody. Let's see if this thing still works. And it still functions, everybody. It's a little muffled. Like I feel like it lost a teeny bit of flare. That's probably be because we melt a bit of the plastic parts of the capsule that's inside, but it's still working. You can still hear me just fine. We're still getting waveforms on the recorder there. Even after lighting this thing on fire and burning it out here in the middle of the night, this microphone is still functioning, which is not okay with me. So we need your help, guys. Fire was a really great suggestion, but we need something a little bit better because we're going into day seven. Let us know in the comments what we should do next, and we'll see you on the next one.

Arow Summary
On day six of a series testing the durability of a Shure SM58, the host follows viewer suggestions and sets the microphone on fire with a propane torch at night. The mic smokes, leaks some liquid, and the internal foam pop filter and parts of the capsule appear to burn/melt, with some exterior finish scorched to expose underlying metal. After cooling, the microphone still works, though it sounds slightly muffled. The host asks viewers for stronger test ideas for day seven.

Arow Key Takeaways
  • A propane-torch fire test burned off internal foam and slightly damaged capsule components.
  • Despite visible scorching and melted parts, the SM58 continued to function.
  • Audio quality degraded slightly (more muffled), but the signal remained usable.
  • Viewers are encouraged to suggest more extreme tests for the next episode.
Arow Sentiments
Positive: Upbeat, amazed tone with excitement and humor about the mic surviving extreme abuse; mild frustration that it still won’t break.
