Speaker 1: Hi guys, do you long to be a podcaster? But the tech side of it is really holding you back I know lots of people that are have such a great gift to share with the world But the thought of editing their podcast is the thing that's really holding them up So I've recorded this really beginners tech tutorial of a walkthrough how to edit your podcast audio Using Camtasia, so we'll take a look now So today I'm going to walk through how to edit audio for a podcast and I'm going to do this in Camtasia, which is the Equipment that I choose to use But you can do similar in iMovie or GarageBand or one of the other systems that you can use So I have a template set up with called podcast template and it just has the intro For our podcast already in it. So it just means it's quicker for me to Access it each time and if I'm editing video I have the same thing set up with My intro and anything that I would regularly put into a video to make it a little bit easier So this is just one file, but it still makes it slightly easier for me so then if you want to import your podcast episode you just go to file import media and then We can find the podcast and it's episode 16 and I'll just import the audio off that Recording And then it's really super simple you just drag and drop so I'm going to drag and drop my intro and then I'm going to get my actual recording and Drop that over to now. I need to make sure because we always have a little chin wag before we start recording. So
Speaker 2: like means
Speaker 1: See whether we've six how we started it That looks like that might be Oh There you go, so that's the start you can sometimes tell by you can roll this out here and It'll give you more of the peaks and troughs, but you can see there was a pause there that dead space So that always gives me a clue that that's where we need to That's where we started basically So I'm gonna just do command shift and T and that will make it split in half and then I highlight the one I don't want and just delete it's easy I'll just move the track back. So there's an overlap and then we'll see what it's like when we play through so Hello, so I want more overlap than that, so I'm going to make it a bit bigger and Then I'm gonna shift this see there's too much of a dead space there as well so if I highlight that and then again command shift and T and Then delete that highlight and then just backspace and I'll maybe try about there and see what that's like Hello and what? And then if if you hover over that is the audio bar So I'm just gonna press my mouse pad and make it a bit louder
Speaker 2: Hello and welcome to the huddle podcast, my name is Kerry Gillett. I'm Abby Moore
Speaker 1: Perfect. Okay. Now if you wanted to edit a bit more in your Episode then you could easily edit you can see where if there's any any dead space You could just do the command shift T and take that space out and then just literally But the other bit right back up to it We tend to not edit our podcasts because we want them to be really how they happened But it depends what sort of effect you're looking for. So I'm just going to show you how to do it there So you just command shift T in both of the spaces and Then delete and then just move it back. So you just press in your mouse pad and
Speaker 2: Pulling it back to get it to level up and then talk about what's overwhelmed them
Speaker 1: I feel like I think so that's just taking away that little space. I wouldn't normally edit that It was just to show you then I go through and make sure there are no kind of big gaps I think from memory. It was our normal chatty podcast. So there's no huge gaps. Nothing that you know strange happened That's what you can do is you can click on it and just pull that line up a little bit to get the volume You know So give yourself a bit higher or you can click on here and then it will bring up the volume over here so you can adjust it up there either or and then all we're gonna do is get to the end of the podcast and then make sure that we Have the ending done. So that would be So that's that and then again command shift T Delete it and then I'm gonna get the end of my podcast. So this is my podcast jingle that is already in there Now I have got one. It's just that hasn't got the words But I'm just gonna use this one So I know that that's basically the words. I don't want that one Welcome to the huddle So I'm gonna stop it there Command shift T. I'm just gonna delete the bit that we don't want and then again Pull the volume up a little bit Drag it over now what I'm gonna do because this blend I want it to blend in a bit more So I'm going to just listen So we could just shift it back And then what I'm going to do is go up here where it says audio effects And then I'm going to fade it in. So you literally just grab it pull it over the track And you can see it adds that little green dot and you can basically move that green dot To be the amount of fade you want to happen So do you want it to be really abrupt or do you want it to really fade in? I normally have it around about there so we can go back and see again Okay, I think that needs to be louder in general let's have a little feel again
Speaker 3: And
Speaker 1: Then because it trails That's probably about fine. So I'll command shift T again And that's basically all the way is to edit in a really basic edit of a podcast So if you're thinking I can't do pod I want to do a podcast but I can't do it because I Can't do the tech as you can see you could take you could do lots of audio tricks and you know all kinds of things on this but basically You need an intro which you can use as your outro as well you drop your track in Remove any dead space if you don't want it super sleek. We just have it really natural So we just take out anything Like if one of our kids wakes up and we have to go in and do that then we'll take out that gap, but otherwise It's very little you have to actually do And then when you finished your edit, so it's literally just those three parts we go up and we will go to share export audio only and I actually what I will do first is I would save it as Whichever episode it was so it's episode 16 I believe We just take it out of there Just so I have the master file in case anything happens then share export audio only. I always give it the same name and Then just let it export and then it will be able to be uploaded to whichever podcast host you use So I hope that's helped So, I hope that helped and gave you a step-by-step Quick walkthrough of how to do that so that you now should have your podcast audio all ready to go now I'll link to another video that I have to show you how to upload that to your host and to make to figure out which bits you have to fill in and which bits you can just gloss over because we all need those bits and So I'll link to that video and check back soon for more content to help you turn that blog into a business See you soon
