Speaker 1: Welcome to Underscored Break It or Make It, where we push products to the limit to see if they can handle real-world punishment. Today we're tackling a problem every traveler knows, carry-on luggage abuse. To be clear, these are not the official methods we use for product testing at Underscored. These are just unusual and fun ways to put products through real-world abuse. Now let's see which products make it or break. One thing we're going to test is how durable the corners are for scuffs if something's being thrown around underneath the plane. Let's see. How'd it turn out? There's definitely some pretty decent scuffing, but I did just hit it with a hammer, so that's expected. I think it might be easy to get out. Honestly, not very much scuffing at all from this. This one doesn't have any of the corner protection on it, so it's definitely getting a little bit more damage on the sides. No indentation, though, just some scuffing, and it looks a little dirty. To simulate what might happen when you check a bag, we're going to jump on these now. I mean, I hope the baggage handlers aren't really jumping on our bags. Hopefully not, but we should still test it. Honestly, this did really well. I feel like it's denting, but then immediately on its own, kind of going back to its original shape. Yeah, you could probably pop that out, right? Yeah. Yeah, really easily. I think there's a hole in the side of it that already formed. Yeah, it's getting a little bigger even. Yeah, it's getting a little bigger even. There's a small hole along the crease that formed pretty much right away, and it's definitely not great for such an expensive piece of luggage. I'm not sure what you would do to fix this. There's a small dent, but I really do think that we could get it out easily. Yeah. But otherwise, this one held up. I think it would protect things inside. So what better way of extreme testing than actually throwing these brands down the stairs? Sorry, could you say that again? Sorry. What better way of extreme testing than actually throwing these bags down the stairs to simulate what might happen when you check a bag? Again, I hope the baggage handlers aren't throwing these downstairs, but... Yeah, they're probably not, but you never know. Now we're going to test all the luggage brands in another way by putting them all in the shower to see how waterproof they are. It claimed to be water-resistant, but we're still going to try it out for another extreme test. It's not too wet, but you can see on these sweatpants, it's a little bit of a darker gray, so it got a little wet in a few areas. And then on this part of the suitcase, too. Okay, same thing again. A little bit of water came through. This sweatshirt is completely dry, but on this side... I don't know if you can see. Through here, there's some water along here and here. There's a pretty big wet spot. I don't know if it's... Everything's super dry in here. We're going to do a scratch test with some scissors to see how easily the luggage will scratch. How does that look? I can't see anything. I can't see anything. You can feel that there's a little scratch, though. You can kind of see a scratch, but it's not super noticeable. Yeah, so this is definitely noticeable. It's also a darker color, so I think you would notice it more on luggage that has a darker color. Oh, God. Honestly, it's pretty hard to scratch. It's definitely creating a scratch, but I'm pushing super hard. And it's not really noticeable when it actually does scratch. So which one wins the scratch test? I would say... It's between the Paravel and the July. I think the July, honestly, just because it's such a dark color and it's still not showing up and hardly has any sort of indentation at all. So the first thing that might break on a bag is usually the zipper. So to test that out, we're going to zip and unzip 100 times on each brand. You can almost hear it smoother. Yeah, this one's definitely a bit smoother. It's just gliding a lot more easily. So overall, this one held up the best. I would say in terms of being thrown down the stairs and being jumped on, the fact that there's not a ton of damage is really impressive. The zipper also glided really smoothly and throughout all of these was the smoothest. And even with the scratch test, it didn't really show much and just held up really well overall through all the durability tests. This one probably was the least performing, just because when we jumped on it, a hole formed. It also has a couple dents that just didn't really go away. And through the hammer test, it got scuffed up a decent amount, but no denting. And then this one overall, it honestly performed like right in the middle. There was a decent amount of scuffing from the hammer test, but when we jumped on it, it created a small dent that kind of wouldn't go away. The zipper was a little bit less fluid, but overall held up better and didn't create a hole like the July. What should we throw down the stairs next? For more information visit www.Flydreamers.com
