+1 (831) 222-8398Speaker 1: Hello friends. In today's video, I will explain an interesting instructional strategy known as flipped classroom. We will discuss what is flipped classroom instructional strategy, what are the benefits of a flipped classroom, and when will a flipped classroom strategy work best? Let's get started. In a flipped classroom instructional strategy, the learners are provided with course materials outside the class and the classroom time is utilized for catering to the individual needs of the learners. The course materials can be in the form of e-learning courses, videos, reference guides, books, webinar recordings, assignments, etc. After going through the course materials, when the learners reach the classroom, they are not blank, but have some idea about the content that is to be covered in the classroom. This instructional strategy transforms the classroom from a passive learning center to an interactive learning hub. The instructor in a flipped classroom takes the role of a coach and mentor. The learners utilize their classroom time for exploring and discussing the subject further, interacting with peers, and for clarifying doubts. Now let's look at the benefits of flipped classroom instructional strategy. It allows self-paced learning. The learners can learn at their own pace and convenience before attending the class. It provides time for in-depth learning. The instructor gets more classroom time to delve into in-depth learning. It make learners prepared for learning. The learners are better prepared as they have already studied the content. It ensures better retention. There are no surprises and pre-learning ensures better retention. Flipped classroom strategy works best if the learner is motivated to learn and have all the desired technology or infrastructure to go through the course materials provided before the classroom session. The flipped classroom instructional strategy is especially significant in the wake of the recent COVID-19 pandemic outbreak. As most of the learners are confined to their homes due to the pandemic, they can be provided with the learning materials to learn from the convenience of their homes. The classroom sessions can happen online through collaboration tools like Skype, Zoom, ClipMeeting, etc. Now that you know what a flipped classroom instructional strategy is, please free to use this strategy whenever you have to suggest an instructional strategy for a proposal.
