[00:00:00] Speaker 1: This is the country's largest flower district in downtown Los Angeles, but things are looking a little different here this Valentine's Day. That's because the vast majority of these vendors are wholesalers who sell their flowers to street vendors who then make arrangements and sell them at street corners and what has become an LA institution. Well, this year a lot of those street vendors are just not there. That is in part because ICE and CBP have carried out raids across the city and have scared a lot of them into just staying home. Some vendors here say that even they are afraid for their customers and for themselves. As a result, a lot of these vendors have had to innovate, making bouquets themselves and selling things like cards and plush toys to try to still make a profit. Now still, the National Retail Federation estimates that a record-breaking $29 billion will be spent this Valentine's Day.
