[00:00:00] Speaker 1: So I just interviewed Senator Elizabeth Warren, who has a new prescription out that she says she's convinced if Democrats follow, they will win the Congress back in 2026. They'll win governor's mansions, they'll win all the way down the ballot, not to mention 2028. And it's pretty simple, pure economic populism.

[00:00:21] Speaker 2: What I want to do is win. I want to win in November of 2026. Read the room. If you're looking at a room of anything other than very wealthy donors, what the American people are telling us over and over and over is I'm voting for the candidate who credibly says that they will lower costs for me.

[00:00:45] Speaker 1: What I find just as interesting as what's in Senator Warren's plan is what's not in it. No talk of cultural issues at all. It's the economy, the economy, the economy. And remember, she ran for president in the 2020 campaign. And the Democrats all running in that primary, they talked about issues like trans rights, and other cultural issues that Democrats now looking back, say might have alienated some voters in the middle of the country who didn't relate or didn't connect or didn't understand. And I asked Senator Warren whether what she's saying now was a lesson learned. And her answer was really simple, that she thinks Democrats need to focus like a laser on making people understand that they're listened to.

[00:01:42] Speaker 2: People are asking us, folks in Washington, folks in the state house, what are you going to do to unrig this system and make it work for me? And if Democrats shift our agenda, narrow down our agenda in order to attract billionaire donors, we're going to lose, we're going to lose in 2026-2028. We go back to our roots and credibly put on the table, concrete proposals to lower costs and then show we're willing to fight for them. That's how Democrats will win.

Summary
An interviewer discusses Senator Elizabeth Warren’s proposed Democratic strategy for winning elections in 2026 and beyond: a tightly focused economic-populist agenda centered on lowering costs for Americans. Warren argues voters want candidates who credibly promise cost relief and that Democrats should prioritize concrete proposals to “unrig” the system over cultural-issue messaging. She warns that narrowing the agenda to attract billionaire donors will lead to losses, and contends Democrats can win by returning to their roots, offering specific cost-lowering plans, and demonstrating a willingness to fight for them.
