Speaker 1: A common question that we get is, why is translation so expensive?

Speaker 2: Rapport International, Professional Translation and Interpretation Services.

Speaker 1: Well, let's look at this. Translation is like writing. And if you hire a good writer, that person has to grasp concepts quickly, they have to communicate clearly, they have to understand grammar rules. I mean, the New York Times has their own set of grammar rules. And if you work with a good writer, they can talk about all the different grammar and punctuation rules. They have to be timely and punctual. They've got to understand the subject matter that they're writing about because they can't just create something or just come out with it. They really have to deeply understand it. So if you think about a translator, they've got to have all those skills, understand the grammar and punctuation and the subject matter expertise to be a good writer. Plus, they have to do it in two languages. They have to be just as good in the native language as they are in the source language. So hiring a good translator means that you're hiring somebody very, very experienced. And if I look at the translators that we have, a lot of them have PhDs, many of them have master's degrees. They have quoted grammar dictionaries at me in both languages. They're very precise. They research stuff on online to make sure that they're getting the concept across. And they're working with lots of different subjects. Now, they narrow down into certain ones and they won't take projects that they don't really work well in. But you've got a very, very highly trained resource that is fully, fully bilingual. So the next time you're wondering about why good translation costs so much, think about that person that's doing it for you. They are bright. And really, it's worth the expenditure. Do not use Google Translate. I think I say that in every video because you're not gonna get a quality translation. And you can't just hire somebody that speaks two languages because you can run into problems. So there's other blogs on that that we'll get into and cover. But that's why translation can be expensive.
