Speaker 1: If you want to know some really pretty room décor ideas that are easy and cheap that you can use to decorate your room or decorate your dorm room and that are not going to damage your walls or your wallets, then definitely keep watching this video. Hi, my best friends, and welcome back to my sleep fart. This video is basically going to be me showing you guys how I decorated my college dorm room. This is kind of like a sneak peek. The decorations are not done yet, so you don't get to see the finished result until the end of this video. These tips basically are going to be like the one that's a little more expensive, the one that's cheaper, a little more expensive, the one that's like not costing anything. And without further ado, let's get it. Oh my god. Let's get into this video. Okay, so the first tip that I can give you guys and the first thing that I did for myself as well was basically figure out your aesthetic. Now, this can be a lot to take on at once. What you can do is go on Pinterest and look up some room decor in the pictures that you like onto a board. And then what you're going to do is just go through that board and kind of like notice what are the common elements in those pictures. Another thing you can do is just write down everything that you feel kind of like composes your aesthetic. Honestly, as basic as this first tip is going to be, I'm actually saving up a really, really cute DIY that is incredibly cheap. It basically costs you from zero to like ten dollars and I've been getting so many compliments on. So I'm going to be sharing that one at some point in this video too. So kind of stay tuned for that. So the first thing that I really wanted to do, I've been waiting to film this for so freaking long. I was like, maybe the sun will come out tomorrow and then like the day after and it keeps on being like this. Like what is this? But anyways, I'm going to do a wall collage on here. And also I want to put on some music. Also, I'm going to be using like these things to hang these up because I'm not allowed to make holes in the wall. If you live in a country where printing is really cheap, you can customize them as I did myself. Where I'm from, it's incredibly cheap to print pictures there. I paid for my wall collage around like I would say $20 and it was one, two, eight, nine, around like 30 pictures. So I customized my collage myself by looking up the pictures on Pinterest that I felt like inspired me or represented my aesthetic. Then I used Canva to kind of put them all into the same size and then I took them to the printing place. I feel like I'm going to start in the middle and kind of like make my way up from there. I feel like I'm making too much noise. If you hear a noise, I'm sorry. That's just the cleaning right now. So I'm going to be finalizing the wall collage with these little like Spotify things that I did, which is if you don't know, it's pretty cool. It's like you put your phone to it and it starts playing the music that's on here. So I feel like that's pretty cool. But my music taste is like changing so much. And now I'm going to be sharing that really, really cool DIY that I keep getting compliments on. I'm just going to be making my little like butterflies while at the same time watching Adeline's vlog. Basically, I made these wall butterflies that no one believes I made myself and everyone is like they must be so hard to make. But I swear to God, they're not the way that I made them. So the first thing that I'm going to be doing is taking this kind of like butterfly stencil. And then I'm going to be putting my paper onto the screen and I'm going to be tracing the butterfly onto the paper. You can also tape it to the computer screen. Also, like you guys look at this golden hour. This is what I have. What I'm going to be doing now is taking one of these butterflies and basically like putting it onto as many like squares. I feel like I need of these butterflies and I'm just going to be like cutting it out based on this shape. So I don't have to do like the whole like stencil and then cut out every single time because that's going to be annoying. After that, just color them in with highlighters. You can just like line color like I did. It really doesn't matter but this way your butterfly kind of won't crumble up because of the wetness of the highlighter. I'm going to be drawing a little like details on them. So I'm making these kind of like rounded shapes and then I'm going to fill the missing parts in. For me, the easiest ones were if I went like this all over the butterfly wing. You can even do lines and when they're going to be on your wall, there's going to be so many of them that you can't really see the details of it. The next thing that I wanted to do and something that can really elevate your room, which is a little bit more on the pricier side. So right now I'm thinking about going to Ikea and getting the big mirror that I want to get for my room because that is what we're working with. It gets even worse because the mirror is broken right now and I blame all of my bad luck on this. But right now we're going to be going to Ikea and this is going to be the outfit. I got my gray jeans. I want to wear this neon jacket and I also want to go with either this as a top or this one. We'll see. Honestly, I'd love to wear black high heels with it. But I think if I'm going to be carrying the mirror bag, I'm going to need something comfortable. This is the outfit. Probably going to take this bag because I think it would look good with it. So I read my book on the Metro. It was kind of nice. I'm at some weird parking lot because I'm bulky lost and I don't know where to go and Google Maps is not working well. They're having fun. It was honestly kind of hard because I kept getting lost. I am in a city where I haven't lived my whole life. I've only lived here for I think like a few months now. Honestly, seeing that right there makes me feel like there's a light at the end of the tunnel. Ikea was like a maze. I kept getting lost. Okay, I'm in the kitchen section and I honestly don't need anything here, but I'm low-key like I do want a nice like cute looking cup for my smoothies. Kept also being shocked by the prices because I'm a college student. So the prices are painful to me. Welcome to a vlog in my bathroom in the future. I'm going to have something like this or honestly, I feel so weird recording this while people are like walking by, but who cares? Pride bags. So there are like some mirrors here, but they're all like hanged ones and they're not standing ones and I want a standing one. Like if I was to buy this, how would I hang this? I found the mirrors after trying to get to talk to people in English, which people here don't really speak English. And even if they do, they kind of don't want to talk to you. It was a hard time, but I found the mirror in the end. The delivery fee was also higher than calling a cab. So I was like, I'm going to take it myself and I called a cab once I got out of there. Also, they said that the delivery would take like up to five days and I was like, I can literally take it right now if I call a cab and it's even going to be cheaper. So honestly, it would have been also okay for me to carry it, but I bought this cute thing which was on sale. So got the mirror. I really hope I didn't already break it by just trying to get it here, but we're going to be unpacking the mirror. I'm really scared like not to accidentally scratch it or something because I paid a lot for this. I'm so freaking happy. I feel like I need music for this. What do I want to play? I think like Back, Back, Back Bear. I think like Black Bear came out with his new album. I really got an accent in English because I was speaking so much Russian because like where I go to University a lot of people speak Russian here because there are a lot of people from like post-Soviet countries here. Besides the points. Also, I covered up the broken mirror because I blame off my bad luck on it. Oh my God, this. I'm hoping I won't get demonetized for using scissors on camera. Okay, it has some like bolts in here and I'm really hoping I don't have to put anything together for this because I'm bad at it. I hit myself in the face. I feel like I won't be able to put this together, but let's see. I see the connection. Six and a half hours later. You have power over me. Two hours later. So like I don't have a screwdriver and I am trying to freaking do it with scissors. This looks ridiculous. Oh God. There is literally so much screwing involved in here that I just can't do it. This is so bad. Oh my God. Eventually. And I feel like what can be said like 20 years later, we finally have the mirror in here and it looks really pretty in my room. The next thing that you guys can use which is a life hack for not really spending that much money. The fact that pillows, blankets, plushies, all of that really can elevate your room and your bed changes the look of your room so much. If you're not going to change anything else, just at least get a bed cover for your bed because that's going to make a huge difference. That you didn't think would be there. And I also bought two pillows which I believe were around $5 together as well. And additionally to this tip is also use the things that you already own that can be used as pretty decorations even though you might not think that. For example, books can be amazing decorations. You can buy a clothing rack and just hang up your most beautiful pieces and it already gives such a beautiful look and elevation and style and personality to your room. I didn't do that personally because I already have an open closet, but I saw my friend do it and it looked incredible. The same goes for shoes. You can kind of take some shoes and either like hang the boxes on the wall like I've seen in some pictures on Pinterest. I personally can't do it because I'm in a dorm and I'm going to pay if I mess something up in here. And another tip that I can give you guys is that whatever you're thinking about, you can find it for cheaper. There are places online where you can order it cheaper. There are sales or there are also DIY routes that you can even take with some things. And a really big thing that can also elevate your room is honestly the lights that you have in your room. I personally wanted to get the strip LED lights, but they're so expensive. So I went for the cheaper option. The color-changing light bulbs, they didn't cost as much. They're pretty cheap on Amazon. And with that, here is the finished before and after of my college dorm room. So I hope you guys like these tips and I hope they kind of gave you some ideas that you can use to decorate your room, some ideas to give your room more personality. And I love you guys and I will see you guys in my next one. Bye.
