[00:00:00] Speaker 1: I'm Elizabeth, and today I'll show you how to use Google Vids, Google's video creation tool, from start to finish, including how to create a video with AI, edit it, add your own recordings, generate voiceovers, use AI avatars, and ultimately share or export your finished video. The quickest way to get started is to navigate to vids.new. That'll open a brand new Google Vids project. You can also access vids through Google Workspace. I'll start my new project by selecting AI video. Since I'm going to be creating this video from scratch, the first thing that I'll do is use a prompt to describe my video. My daughter asked me to create a video of parrots. So in this case, I'm going to create a video of a green parrot bouncing its head as if it's dancing, and then have a second parrot come in and start dancing with the first one. My daughter is going to love this. If you want to recreate the video, you could select recreate, or if you want to make small edits to the existing video, you could just describe your changes here. I want to add a sombrero on each of these parrots' head. Once you're happy with how your video looks, select insert. This will bring the video over to your timeline. Your timeline is a helpful tool for editing as well as continuing your video clips. I'm happy with this video, but I want to make it longer and a little bit more advanced. So I have two options. I can either add a new scene by clicking on this icon here. You'll notice that it will automatically allow you to add a transition between the two clips. The other option I have is extend will allow me to add a seamless follow-up to my current video clip. In this case, I want the birds to fly off the branch and enjoy a delicious taco meal. You can use the basic Google Vids editor for free with a regular Google account. That includes creating, editing, recording, and downloading your videos. Google is even currently letting US users try AI avatars for free, which we'll look at in just a moment. However, some of the more advanced Gemini features, especially AI generation, depend on your Google plan and may have usage limits. The next video feature we're going to look at is the animate function. This time, I'm going to upload a picture of my daughter's parrot. Once I've added the image from my computer, I'm going to ask Google Vids to have my daughter's parrot wave, start some music, and then have the parrot begin to do a little dance. And similar to creating a video from scratch, you could continue to both edit your video as well as add additional scenes. As we were creating those last videos, you may have noticed this section called ingredients. Google Vids allows you to add up to three images as ingredients to help Google Vids understand what you want your video to look like. For example, I want to create an onboarding video to welcome employees to their new workspace. I've uploaded three separate images and I've let Google Vids know how I want each of these images to be used in my video. These give Google Vids more visual context so it could create scenes that feel more relevant to the story that you're trying to tell.

[00:04:02] Speaker 2: Welcome to the team.

[00:04:08] Speaker 1: Now here's where Google Vids gets really interesting. You don't necessarily need to appear on camera at all. Google Vids provides AI avatars that present your script for you. I want to create a short promotional video highlighting this laptop bag, but I want to use an avatar to present the laptop. The first thing I did is uploaded a picture of the laptop bag and now I'm going to select an avatar. You can hover over any one of these in order to preview their mannerisms and the sound.

[00:04:48] Speaker 3: This community garden is a peaceful place for everyone.

[00:04:52] Speaker 1: Let's paint this entire room a viper. This silk wallpaper adds a sufficient... I'm going to pick Finley for this short clip. Now that I've added my image and chosen my avatar, I'm going to double check my prompt.

[00:05:11] Speaker 4: Meet the laptop bag that does it all. There's plenty of space for your laptop, charger, notebooks, accessories, and all those extras. With a sleek design for your commute, this is the bag to take everywhere.

[00:05:21] Speaker 1: Auto-generated captions are automatically generated for all media with English speech, but if you're creating a quick reel or even a training video, it's really helpful to have more stylistic captions added to your video. I got to this by selecting insert and then coming down here to captions. Here I can look at a preview and you can see here that it's automatically following the script. I can go ahead and edit the playback speed or the text speed in here and you'll see that there's different types of options here emphasizing different words and different styles. When you click on the video itself, you'll see that it opens up additional editing options. If I wanted to go ahead and insert a border, I can do that here. Likewise, if I want to change the style, coloring, size, you can do all of that once your video is on the left-hand side here. It becomes a complete free range of different editing types and remember you can always edit with prompts as well. Now when you're happy with how your reel looks, you have a few options. You can share this with someone or you can download it and then it's all yours. For things like employee onboarding, training, internal communication, or content that frequently needs updating, AI avatars are very appealing. In this example, I am introducing Leo as my AI avatar and he's going to be providing an update to employees on some of the latest employee benefits including the addition of a new employee wellness program. The first thing I've done is entered information that I once said in my first scene. Now I'll go ahead and generate it. I've created the beginning of my employee video but after I have the AI avatar speak, I want to show some additional clips for greater engagement. So here I'm going to add a new scene to my video and in this scene I want to show people being active whether it's in a gym, dancing, kayaking, etc. So I'm going to click on AI video and I've entered this prompt here. I'm then going to generate this as our second scene in my clip. I've now added my second scene to my employee update video. You can see here that I have Leo talking at the beginning. I then added that transition and now I'm showing video of people being active again in order to highlight the employee wellness plan. I can then continue this video up to 30 minutes and I can continue to add new scenes. So here I can bring back Leo as my avatar or I can use the AI video tool to again describe different types of animations or context that I want to include in this training video. Google vids also allows you to create your own personal avatar using your own face and likeness. You'll start by scanning your personalized QR code and following the prompts on your mobile phone. Once I've gone through the steps to upload my avatar I'm going to ask Google vids to create a scene that has my AI avatar walking alongside a river in casual attire encouraging employees to get outside be active and enjoy the outdoors as part of our employee wellness initiative. Let's step outside and get active enjoy the and if the avatar doesn't turn out exactly as you had envisioned you can keep going through that process on your mobile phone in order to enhance and edit your AI avatar. You can also recreate the video by using the same prompt. I want to encourage all of our employees to get outside. Now that I have my video clip I want to create some music to play at the beginning that's engaging to my audience and encourages them to get outside and be active. You could also add your own lyrics here if you had a specific song that you want written in mind. In this case I'm actually going to select that I just want it instrumental and no actual words in this music. If I'm happy with that soundtrack I can easily insert it into my video clip or I can recreate it and since I'm going to insert this into my video clip but I don't want it to be that long I can then just drag and drop this to have it play just at the beginning of the video or I can add a new scene and have the music just play in that. If you already have a Google Slides presentation or even a PowerPoint presentation you don't need to recreate it inside Vids. When you convert a presentation Google Vids can automatically storyboard the slides and draft a script. You can then add AI voiceovers or even have an AI avatar present the material.

[00:10:46] Speaker 3: Welcome to this video on Mastering Client Conversations where we will explore strategies for building trust and driving impactful results in your professional relationships. In this video we will cover understanding your clients, building authentic relationships, delivering impactful business reviews, and implementing time management and productivity strategies.

[00:11:05] Speaker 1: Now that we have the first draft of my PowerPoint presentation turned into a Google Vids video let's do a little bit of editing in order to fine-tune it. There's tons of different editing features but let's focus on two. The first one is editing the transcript so it's broken out here into scenes. I'll right click on the transcript for this particular scene, select transcript, and here you can make edits to exactly what is said in the video. You'll see that in some of the clips they don't automatically add an AI avatar but let's say I want to add one to a section that wasn't included in the initial draft. Let's do that for this scene here, organic and authentic communication. I will click on avatar and here I can add and preview Olivia and insert her into my video. So now that I've added my avatar to this scene I can move exactly where I want to place her. Likewise if I wanted to take up the entire screen I can do that too. So I'm just going to make her smaller down here in the corner and there we go.

[00:12:19] Speaker 3: Building lasting client relationships starts with organic and authentic communication.

[00:12:24] Speaker 1: We will focus and remember that you have all of your editing tools including the ability to add captions up here on the top toolbar. Similar to the other videos we created together you have a few options for sharing or downloading your video. Because Google Vids works like any other Google workspace app you could click on share and invite other people to join. You can then select whether they have viewer, commentator, or editor access which makes collaboration especially easy. Other options include exporting it to your Google Drive, YouTube, or downloading as an MP4 or as a GIF. This really isn't trying to replace a professional video editor. Instead it's trying to make video creation feel as easy as making a Google Slides presentation. And with Gemini generating outlines, scripts, media, voiceovers, video clips, and AI presenters you can now go from an idea to a surprisingly complete first draft very quickly. Thanks for watching.

Arow Summary
