Create, Edit, and Refine Images in ChatGPT 2.5 (Full Transcript)

[00:00:00] Speaker 1: ChatGPT just got a major upgrade for creating images. With the new ChatGPT Images 2.5, you can generate images from scratch, edit your own photos, make precise changes without starting over, create graphics with text, and a whole lot more. And it's also much faster than before. In this video, I'll show you how to use it, starting with the basics and then moving into some of its most powerful features. I'm Kevin, and let's dive in. To get started, head to ChatGPT, and over on the left-hand side, click on Images. Right here, you'll notice that it says Updated. When I click on this, this brings us into the new images experience. Right at the top, you can describe whatever image you want to create. And if you're not quite sure where to start, here, if I scroll down, you'll find all these different trending ideas and templates. I have lots of inspiration here. Now, I'd like to see what I would have looked like back in the 1980s. So over here, I'll click on 80s Flashback. And check this out. ChatGPT automatically writes a detailed prompt for me. It tells ChatGPT to preserve my identity and also all of my facial features. But I want to change my hair, my clothing, the accessories, and even the surrounding to match the 1980s. Now, personally, I think these templates are a great way to see the level of detail that you can include in your own prompts. Now, all I have to do is attach my own photo. I have a photo right here, and I'd like to see what this looks like in the 80s. So here, I'll simply click and drag my photo from my desktop and drop it into this window. And there, off it goes. And look at that. There I am in the 80s. If I'm happy with it, right down below, I can click on this icon, and I can share this with others. Or right over here, I could download it directly to my PC. Now, if you'd like to get back to the images you created, you can simply go back to this chat. Or alternatively, over here in the sidebar, you can click back into your library. And here's that image that I just created. Of course, you don't need to start with a template. You can also create something completely from scratch. And that's what we'll look at next. So let's head back to images. Over on the left-hand side, I'll click here. And right up on top, let's minimize the sidebar. Right up on top, I can simply describe what I want to create. For my small business, the Kevin Cookie Company, I need a photo for an ad. So right over here, I'll describe the cookie, the setting, and even the type of lighting I want. You certainly don't need to write a prompt this detailed. You could simply say, create an image of a chocolate chip cookie, and ChatGBT will fill in a lot of the details for you. But the more direction you provide, the more control you have over the final result. Then, right over here, I'll send that off. And look at that. Just from this prompt that we provided right up above, we got this image. I'm still blown away by this every time I use it. Now, I like this image, but I think we could probably make a few modifications to it. As an example, I love eating cookies with a nice, cool glass of milk. And there's no glass of milk here. Of course, we can continue refining and editing this image. To do that, let's click on this edit button right down here on the image. Let's start with a comment. Right up above, I'll click on comment. And here, I could tap on the photo where I'd like to place this comment. I'd like to put the glass of milk right here, so let's click there for the comment. And now, I could describe the changes. So here, I'll say, add a glass of milk right here. Now, over here, let's click on the check mark. And right up above, we can now click on send. And there we go. JotGPT adds a glass of milk right where I wanted it. Now, maybe there's something I don't want. So right over on the left-hand side, we have this vase with some flowers. I don't know if I need this in the photo. So right down below, let's go to edit once again. Right up on top, let's go to erase. And over here, I'll highlight the flower over on the left-hand side. And once I finish doing that, let's send that. The flowers are now gone. If you don't like a change and you'd like to go back to a previous version, well, it's really easy. You can simply scroll back up, and there I have my original image, and I could continue working from this one. But I like all the changes we've made so far, so let's go back to the latest version. Now, I'd like to make one additional change. I think it would be nice to have some text on this glass that says, The Kevin Cookie Company. So like we've been doing, let's go down to edit. Here, I think it would be easier to use markup to show JotGPT exactly what I want to change. So right up on top, I'll click on markup. And here, I have all these different tools. I could draw, I could type, I could add shapes, I could even change the colors. Now, let's add maybe a big arrow right here pointing at this glass, and then I could add a box where I'd like to place the text. Now, right down below, I could also add instructions. So I'll say, add the text, Kevin Cookie Company, to this glass and make it wrap naturally around the glass. So here, I'm combining visual instruction with a description of what I want. Let's try it. And check that out. It adds the text right where I pointed, and it even makes it fit naturally on the glass. Now, let's click on edit and look at a few more tools that we have. Now, right up on top, we have the option to remove a background, and this gives you an image with a transparent background. And right over here, we have an option called resize, and this lets you generate an image with a completely different aspect ratio. And also, one other thing I really like is that it keeps track of all the different versions of your image. Here, I'll click on the first one, and we can see the very original image that we generated. And here, we can see all the different changes that we've made along the way. So this way, you can keep experimenting with an image, and that way, you won't lose where you started. Sometimes, it can be difficult to describe exactly what you have in mind using words. In that case, you can actually sketch out your idea. Let's now head back to images. Over on the left-hand side, I'll click right here. Right here, you'll see an option for sketch. Now, alternatively, we could also go up to the prompt box up above, and here, I could type in at sketch. And when I click on that, that launches the sketch tool. Now, I think it's helpful to know the at sketch command because you can use it directly in a chat without needing to come back to the images tab and then click on the template. Here, I can use these drawing tools to create a really rough version of what I want. Maybe I want a cookie right here in the middle. Let's put a glass of milk right over here, and maybe we put the cookie inside a box that says, Kevin Cookie Company. Oh, and as you could probably tell, you definitely don't need to be an artist. Once you have the basic layout down, right over in the bottom right-hand corner, let's now attach the sketch. Right up on top, I can describe what I want this to become. So let's turn this into a photorealistic ad for the Kevin Cookie Company, and then I'll describe the lighting and how I'd like it to look. And over here, let's send that off. And would you look at that? That looks beautiful. Here, it used my visual along with this description to generate this image. Now, I don't want to brag, but I think my sketch was probably about 90% of the way there. You can also upload your own photos and completely transform them. Here, I'll upload that same photo from earlier that I transformed into an 80s photo. Since I run the Kevin Cookie Company, I should probably look the part. So right down below, I'll type in, put me in a professional baker's outfit. Then right over here, let's send that. And check that out. I'm officially ready to start baking cookies. Now, if I scroll up here again, we can see the original photo, and here we can see the modified photo. It pretty much keeps my likeness 100% accurate. That's a big improvement over previous models. Now, I'd like to take this even further by giving ChatsGBT another image to work with. To do that, let's click on edit. Right down below, I'll click on the plus icon, and right up here, I'll select the bakery monster as a second reference. Then down below, I could also describe the edits. I'll ask ChatsGBT to put us together eating cookies while keeping both of our appearances consistent. Over here, let's send that. And there we go. There we are in an entirely new scene. Again, here's the original image of me, here's the monster, and there we are together. And of course, this doesn't just have to be people or characters. You could also combine products or clothing, or maybe furniture design, or just about any other images that you want to bring together. Now, we've spent a lot of time working with photos, but ChatsGBT images can also create complete graphics with text. At the Kevin Cookie Company, we're running a promotion, and I think it'd be worthwhile to have some posters to go along with it. So over here, I'll type in a prompt. I'd like a poster with some text on top that says, fresh from the oven. And then at the bottom, I'll include some text that says, buy two cookies, get one free. It's a great deal, and it attracts a lot of customers. Then also the imagery I'd like included on the poster. Let's try it out. And check that out. Not only did it create the image, but it also included the text and laid everything out like an actual advertisement. And just like with our other images, I can keep refining this, but for now, I think this looks good. And that's how to use the new ChatsGBT Images 2.5. Now, of course, it's still not perfect. You might occasionally see text that isn't quite right. Maybe small details between edits change, and it may not always follow every single instruction exactly as you had in mind. But the really nice thing is you usually don't have to start over. You can tell ChatsGBT what went wrong, and you can also ask it to fix it. And that's probably my favorite part about the new images experience. You simply keep editing with the same image until you get exactly what you want. All right.
