Speaker 1: The last week I spoke to you about some essential elements of a good podcast artwork. Now in today's video, I will show you how to create a good podcast artwork even if you are not a skilled designer. We will be using Canva and designing a podcast artwork for your podcast. Let's get started. Hello and welcome to TPU TV. This is Dilip. If you don't know me, then I am a blogger, podcaster and affiliate marketer. And this is a channel where I share a lot of simple, practical and implementable podcasting tips that you can use to get started with your own podcast. Now on to today's episode. Now the last week we spoke about podcast artwork. And podcast artwork is one of the most essentials of any podcast because that is the first impression that your potential listeners get about your podcast. When they are searching a podcast directory with some of the keywords and when some of these podcasts show up there, the first thing that shows up is the podcast artwork. It's a very small 150 by 150 pixel small image that talks a lot about your podcast. That is what will tell your audience if your podcast is something that they should even listen to. So it is essential that you create a good podcast artwork for your podcast. The last week we spoke about some essential elements of a good podcast artwork. I'll link to that video in the I button here. So you can go through it and learn about the things that you might want to keep in mind when you are designing a podcast artwork. But in today's video, I'm going to show you how to create a good podcast artwork. I'm going to show you how to design a podcast artwork without learning a lot of the designing skills. Even if you're not a skilled designer, I'm not a skilled designer. And even if you know nothing about designing, you can still design a very good and attractive podcast artwork for your show. So in this video, I'll show you how to go about doing that using Canva. So let's go on to my desktop and see how to design a podcast artwork. Okay, so here I am on Canva and you can see this is a free version. I have not used, the pro version. This is an account where I'm trying to use a free version and show you how to create a podcast cover. So first of all, let's go ahead and search for a podcast cover template. When you search it, you can see here it gives you a few options. Podcast cover, podcast cover art. So let's select this one and see what it shows. You can see here, these are some of the templates, the podcast cover art templates. Now, wherever you see this, it is a pro template, which means that you have to have access to Canva pro in order to use this template and replicate it. But wherever it is not there, it basically means that those are templates that you can use. Now you can see that there are a lot of these templates out here. You can see this is a very good template. It's a pro version. This is another template that is there, which is free. You can see this is another one. And I've seen a few podcasts that are using this particular template in their articles. Then you can see these are all extremely good templates that you can use and create your podcast artwork. Now what I'm going to do is I'm going to create a very simple podcast artwork. Take inspiration from one of this. You don't really need a pro account like, for example, this one. This is a pro template. Now what I'm trying to do is I go ahead and create a version of this one where I'll be taking inspiration from this particular one. And creating a template of my own. Now, it might necessarily not be the same, but what I'm trying to do is I just want to take inspiration from one of these and then create a template that I can use for my particular podcast. So let's go ahead and create a template like this. Now, first of all, what we do is we start from a blank template. So what we are going to do is going to click on create a design and custom size. So like what I said, we want it to be a minimum of 4500 pixels by 4500 pixels. Now let's click on create new design. Now here I am on the blank template. First of all, we want a background for this one. So let's quickly add a background to this. So we'll go here and let's use a darker background, a gradient background like this. So let's go and select this one. This sounds fine. Let's now go about adding an image to this one. So now let me see. I have an uploaded image of mine. You can see here. This is an image that I had uploaded some time back. I want to use this image in this particular template. So let me click that. Let's add that image. So I want to use this design for my podcast. So I adjust it here. This is the background. Now, if you go and check this one out, this has a similar image with a black background and then a text here. So now let's go about adding that text. Now, if you go to text, you'll be able to see a lot of these options here. But let this quickly replicate this particular design. So what I'm going to do is let's go to elements and click on line. And you can see here there are a lot of lines. You can see some of these are all pro. There are free versions as well. So let's go to the shape and see if there are any lines. So this one looks good. Now, let's see if we can make it a little more thicker. Yes, this is enough. So what we do is we place it here. Now, if I am to imitate this same image and now this person is wearing a gray shirt. So the white font is clearly visible here. But in this case, that might not be visible. So what I want to do is I want to add a slight gray background to this place. So let's go back to the shapes and see if we can find a shape here. Now, this looks fine. So let's go here. Pick a gray gradient and then we'll do some bit of transparency to it so that it isn't dark. So instead, I think I'll go for a darker one. Then we'll reduce it and let's place it on this page here and we extend it. We stretch it a little more here. Now we see that this looks fine. Or we can actually reduce it a little bit from all the sides so that it gives it a nice aesthetic look. Now we send it back. The layer send it back and now it's gone back. So we need to bring it forward. Now this looks fine. Now we have this one. We'll duplicate it and let's place it here. Align it. This is slightly off alignment. So let's now this looks fine. And then we'll duplicate it again and drag it here so that it is aligned and we duplicate this one. And let's drag it here. You can see it is aligned now. Now this looks somewhat similar to what this is. Now we need to find a good font for it. So let's go to the text and add a text box. Now this is what we are going to use. So let's make the color white. And we can look at any other font if we want. I think this league spartan looks great. Or maybe we can go with this one. I think league spartan is fine. So I'm going to use my show's name. Which is podcasting university. And I want it to be capitals. And I want it to be big. So that's where it is. Now we drag and drop it in the center of this one. And we duplicate it. And write university. And let me reduce the font size of this one. Because I want the focus to primarily be on podcasting. And you can see here. This is fine. Now what else. Okay we need to write the. Because this is only part of it. So let's go add another box. And this time I'll use this one. And I'll reduce the font size. And let's bring it. And align it here. And then we'll reduce the font size a little more. And let's position it at the center. Now that's the podcasting university. And now we'll duplicate it. And we will want the name of the podcaster here. So we'll reduce the size a little more. And align it in the center. Now this looks pretty fine. Just that maybe these fonts are a little too closer. You can easily align it using your arrow. And let's align this one also a little bit. Now this looks fine. The podcasting university Dilip Kumar. And if you look at. Compare this one to this. It looks pretty similar. And it looks great. I think we need to align this to the center. And that is it. You have a good podcast artwork that you can use for your show. Now similarly you can take inspiration from any of these templates. You don't need a pro version to use any of these templates. You can take inspiration from these templates. And create something on your own. If you want to really use these templates. Then you will need the pro version. I'll leave a link to Canva in the description box below. You will have to have a pro version in order to use one of these. But like what I said. You don't really need a pro version. You can take inspiration from any of these. And these are all free templates. All that you need to do is just click on it. Customize this template. It will open the template. And then you can go about customizing it. It is pretty easy. All that you need to do is just change the images. You can see here. So these images are. All replaceable. You can delete it. Delete the image. And then you can add. Let me show you how I can add my image here. So this is an image that I can add here. And similarly I can change the name. So if you want to customize one of these templates that are there. It is pretty easy. All that you need to do is just select it. And then go about editing the elements. But otherwise even if you don't have a pro account. And you want to use one of these pro templates. Then like what I showed you. You can take inspiration and create a podcast cover art of your own. So I hope you enjoyed this tutorial session. And now after seeing this video. You will be able to go ahead and design a good podcast artwork for yourself. Go ahead. Experiment with it. Take feedback from your friends and your family members.
