Speaker 1: Many of the AI news started in 2025. Today we will talk about how DeepSeek became a competitor of ChatGPT. Actually, most of the people who are watching this video don't use AI that much. If you are a school or university student, you can use ChatGPT for homework or assignment. If you are a freelancer, you can use it for LinkedIn or for email or client communication. So what is this new revolution for you? Before we understand this, let's think about how ChatGPT was created. The company which is owned by ChatGPT is OpenAI. The CEO of OpenAI is Sam Altman. When OpenAI was founded, their plan was to become a non-profit open source company. Many of you don't know what OpenSource means. OpenSource means that you like to have fun. If the fun company tells you the complete recipe, that you have to add a little bit of sugar, a little bit of black color, a little bit of this, a little bit of that. Then you can have fun in your own house. If you don't like black color, you can add pink color. If you like more sugar, you can add more sugar. Now, you can customize it for yourself and have fun in your own house. Or you can customize it a little bit more and sell it to people. The fun company doesn't benefit from it, but it tells you the complete recipe. When OpenAI was founded, their plan was to make AI systems for everyone in the world and implement it. That is basically an easy-to-use open source. But when Sam Altman saw that ChatGPT was widely accepted by people and the product was good, Then they realized that it wouldn't work as a non-profit company. They had to make use of it. Then they didn't keep OpenAI as a non-profit company. ChatGPT didn't have an open source. They tried to hide their subsystems so that people wouldn't know about their systems. On the other hand, a Chinese company started developing another language model like ChatGPT. It's called DeepSeek. The difference between ChatGPT and DeepSeek is that ChatGPT spent billions of dollars to develop. They spent thousands of crores on ChatGPT. Whereas, DeepSeek costs only 5 million US dollars. Surprisingly, DeepSeek is not so good that it can beat ChatGPT. DeepSeek and ChatGPT are equally good. In some places, DeepSeek performs better than ChatGPT. Whereas, they invested a lot less than ChatGPT. What is the importance of ChatGPT? If you want to use the free version of ChatGPT, you can see that you can't send more than 15 messages. On the other hand, if you want to use DeepSeek, you have to pay more than the free version of LimitChartGPT. The funny thing is that DeepSeek is a Chinese company. So, many people can impose regulations on this app. Keep in mind that DeepSeek is currently the number one trending app in the App Store in the US. What if they ban DeepSeek from there? Why would they ban it now? We saw a few days ago that TikTok was banned in the US. Because they said that TikTok is a Chinese company and they were taking all the data from the US. So, they can give a similar allegation to DeepSeek. So, many people will have privacy and regulations issues. They won't want to do it. The difference between DeepSeek and DeepSeek is that DeepSeek is an open source product. When you use ChatGPT, you use the Cloud. For example, when you write from ChatGPT, it is written that ChatGPT is stored in the Cloud. It is not stored in your computer because you can't use it outside the internet. You are using their server on the internet. But if you don't want DeepSeek, you can download it. Once you download it, you can run it locally in your home device. You don't have to store the data from China or the US. You don't have to store the data from your competitors, corporations, or federal agencies. Unless they are using your device. This means that your privacy is protected. Plus, you can develop it quickly. It shows that everyone has this open source infrastructure. People can create their own software. People can work on it. This is revolutionary. DeepSeek is creating a new history. The stock price of NVIDIA graphics cards was very high. AI revolution is coming. AI servers are running on graphics cards. That's why the price of NVIDIA is so high. But DeepSeek is an open source company. We are dependent on them. We can run it locally in our home devices. That's why the price of NVIDIA has crashed by 50%. AI is not for big corporations. AI is for ordinary people like you and me. When we can run AI locally, it will open new boundaries and gates for us. If you are a freelancer, DeepSeek is for you. Let me break it down for you. We send emails to our clients. We send cold emails to our clients. It means that we send a message to 5000 people every day. If you send an email to 1000 people every day, you will see that the email has been copied and pasted. But if you use chat GPT, based on the information you already have, AI can automatically change it and send you an email. But if you think that the email was copied and pasted, then I am also interested in becoming a client. Instantly is a tool that uses chat GPT integration. You can send a custom email to everyone. But the problem is that the chat GPT API is very expensive. Chat GPT costs 7-8 dollars for 1 million tokens. On the other hand, the DeepSeek API costs 18 cents for 1 million tokens. This means that when you send an email to 1000 people every day, you can send a customized chat GPT. If your chat GPT costs 100 dollars, then if you use DeepSeek, you will see that your chat GPT costs 20 dollars. It means that the exact numbers are significantly less. OpenAI chat GPT started with a story that there is no problem with them. Those who come are as good as them. They were almost monopolizing. DeepSeek came and gave them a reality check. They showed you with their fingers that we can come with a low budget. The difference with DeepSeek is that DeepSeek has an R1 model. When you ask them to do something, they will show you the thinking process. What happens in this is that this is often our wrong answer. But we can't rectify these wrong answers sometimes because we don't understand where the mistake is. Whatever DeepSeek shows you, its whole thinking process, you can pinpoint exactly where the mistake is. And you can give it a better and proper direction in that place. But after that, chat GPT is still better when you send an email on LinkedIn or when you write a poem. Ideation, brainstorming, all these are better for chat GPT. But DeepSeek is currently better when you can solve a math problem. Or when you need more logic, when you need to do critical thinking, then DeepSeek is better. The point of this video is that you should know how AI is growing so rapidly. This is very good news for us. When a product like DeepSeek enters the market, then giants like OpenAI are not comfortable in the market. They will try to continuously innovate. A healthy competition is needed on both sides for any market. But don't worry, AI won't take your job. But if you can use AI properly, then you can show that you are performing better than your competitors. I will see you again in the next video.
