[00:00:00] Speaker 1: The Department of Homeland Security is surging an additional 1000 U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents to Minneapolis in the wake of the shooting last week involving an immigration and customs enforcement officer. Now, this has fueled simmering tensions between the federal government and the city. The Department of Homeland Security, however, not backing down and saying that they are going to maintain their presence in the city and in this case, deploy additional agents. A deployment that started last Friday and continued over the weekend. Now again, the administration has said that they are conducting immigration arrests in Minneapolis and in Minnesota. They say that this operation, which started in early December, has yielded already more than 1000 arrests. But the deployment comes as the city continues to be on edge after the shooting last week.
