Speaker 1: Hey guys, Sheldon LaShelley here. Today I'm going to talk about 100% free transcription training courses and I've talked about transcription before. It's a great way to make $8, $10, $15 plus dollars an hour and if you're going to start in the industry, you may have come across some programs that charge $100, $200, $300 and you don't need to pay that money if you want to learn. I just want to show you some free resources and I hate so many gurus that push off courses that aren't worth it. Some are, but if you're paying over $100, usually it's not. So if you want to get into transcription, but you want to train a little more before you do, then these resources should be able to help you out. As always, I'm 100% honest, so let's begin. So the first course I want to talk about is Udemy. Most of the courses that are on this website do cost you money, but there is a little trick that you can find free courses as well. So if you typed in transcription, for example, what you want to do is go to the filter section here and you'll see a price and you can click on the free option here and when I was doing so I did find one course that was available with 8,000 reviews and it was free to download. It had over 8 lectures for an hour total and that's not bad. Again it's free, but there are a lot of courses on here that only cost $10 to $15. You can see if we did up it to the paid, you can see that there's courses anywhere from $17 to $15, which these I do recommend because the prices aren't as much as usually those courses that come from gurus that will cost $100, $200, $300. Those are the ones I usually don't recommend, so check this out. There's one free one, sometimes more will pop up, but it all depends on the time you're looking at it. Another one I want to mention here is Go Transcript. This is a company I often mention that hires transcriptionists, they have closed captioning jobs and such. The cool thing about this company is that they publish older editing and transcriptionist tests to show you what their tests look like. So for example, here's a practice test that you can play around with as well as transcribe and they have the guidelines and after finishing it'll show you what mistakes you made. These are similar tests that they use when they screen incoming applicants and it works similar to other sites as well. If you're interested in applying, almost all companies will require that you take some sort of test like this, so it's a good way to get practice in. With that being said, it's important that you at least attempt a few of these tests before applying because again, you're going to have to take these tests for most of these reputable sites and if you don't have the skills, unfortunately, you're not going to get hired. So these are free and again, I'll put all the links in the description if you're interested. ExpressScribe, this is another pretty big company that's the leader in transcription equipment. If you ever shop for equipment, there's probably a good chance you'll come across this name and they offer a variety of practice files as you can see to help you with transcription. So you can see everything from legal dictation practice to medical dictation practice and these are all free audio files that you can download to practice. Again, I'll put the link in the description and these aren't scored in real time, so it's just more of a way to just type and then compare your work to the sample provided. So this will be the audio file and then you'll compare to the downloaded transcription file there to see what mistakes you made. Again, it's a great way to practice before you start applying to these companies. Even though it's offered by ExpressScribe, which offers its own software platform, you don't need to own the software to benefit from them. All you need to do is download the audio file and that's it. Next one I'm talking about is Transcribe Anywhere. This is a transcript training company that many bloggers recommend and it's mainly because they pay a hefty affiliate fee. I mean, these courses cost hundreds of dollars and they'll pay a blogger like me 20% of commission and that's why you see it everywhere. So don't sign up for the paid course, instead take advantage of the free mini courses that they offer. They do offer some value, but keep in mind they're going to upsell you. And again, the Udemy courses are just as valuable. I've looked into both and I've seen them and paying $15 on the Udemy course is going to be just as good. This has great modules for the intro course, but I do recommend if you do sign up, use an email that you don't use often because they will spam you or you can at least block it when you're done. You can see a lot of modules come with this and it is good for free. I'll give them this. I just can't justify the cost on the courses. So when they do get upsells, don't spend hundreds of dollars on the course. It's not going to be worth it instead. Take advantage of the free intro course and use all the other options that I mentioned as well. If you really want to start doing transcripts and you want to train yourself, then there's a bunch of free options. You can see what I've mentioned here and all you need to do is just learn how to listen to audio and type it. It's pretty much the gist of it. So practice those audio tests that I've shown you as well as try those free courses, but don't sign up for any of them because transcription in itself doesn't pay a whole bunch. But if you learn how to type fast and that, it can be kind of lucrative if you do sign up for the right company. And I'll put a link to the best transcription companies online and you can make okay part-time wages. Don't expect to make a ton of money. I'm talking $8, $10, $15 an hour at most. So that's good. For now, follow those links in the description if you want to have any free courses right now. This is a training. This gets you the grunt of the industry to see how it works. And as always, go to lushdollar.com. I have hundreds of ways to make money, save money. I also have the videos. I'll keep continuing to inform you and educate you. I'm not going to promote any garbage products. I just want to show you how it is. That being said, like, comment, subscribe. It always helps out. That's going to do it for now. See you guys next time.
