It also supports all kinds of languages, so you can also use it for other languages than English. It's pretty affordable. You can get it if you follow the link under this video, but they also do a free trial, so you can obviously have a look first and then decide if you need it. So the software is called Sonix. As you can see, I'm in my workspace at the moment with my mispronounced last name, which is something I'm getting used to. I've already tried, I've already played around, obviously, with some videos. You can see some of them here, but I will just quickly walk you through it anyway. So as I said, it's a transcription platform. You can upload anything you want. You can upload from Zoom or from your computer, but what I'll do, I'll upload from YouTube, so you can upload YouTube links. For this, I've already prepared some stuff for you, so if you really want to find something that's difficult to understand, you want to find some strong Scottish accent, this is what I experimented with, so that's what we'll do. So basically, that's a video of a debate where a Scottish guy has a strong accent. He was misunderstood by an English guy. So let me just quickly play it for you.

Speaker 1: As you can see, pretty hardcore. So I'll just copy and paste this link into Sonix and click on transcribe. So it does need some time to transcribe. First, let's click on transcribe in English, so you do select the language, you can select the language. I actually tried, before this I tried a Polish comedy, a famous part from a Polish comedy where there were not only slang being spoken, but also all kinds of noises in the background, music in the background. So it was very effective as well. You can choose your languages. Here is going to be English. So at the moment it's preparing and let's just wait until it's done. Okay, so what it's showing me is that it's a duplicate because I previously uploaded it. Anyway, so let's just play it. Let's see what happens once you upload the file, because that's what I did before. I click on the upload. You can see here on the right is everything that is prepared. This is interpretation before the upload. The only thing that you did not see because it showed that duplicate announcement is it shows you the accuracy. So it basically gives you a report of the accuracy. For this one, it showed me one word that's possibly missing or unsure or something like that. Otherwise, it showed that everything was accurate. So it's nice to know that it actually points to where it didn't do a good job, which is a really good thing for you. So that you know, maybe you have to, you need to take a look and analyze it just so that you can see. Let me just play it now.

Speaker 1: So as you can see, it shows you where in the transcript it is, which is really nice. Really nice. You can export it, of course, because that's what you want to do if you're working on your research. Another thing, so I won't be going to YouTube now because it's already something, something I already uploaded as well before. Let me just quickly play it. So this is basically a video, recently popular video of this girl who's faking different accents. So let's just play it because it's already being transcribed. And as you can see, a whole bunch of accents is doing pretty well as well.

Speaker 4: American. Oh my God, I'm like so excited to be back. You have no idea. I am very happy because I will see all of my Australian and I'm like literally so excited. But like the hardest part about being here, it is like, it can be a little bit distracting because there's a music here right now and honestly like.

Speaker 1: It's pretty impressive. As you can see, there are some strong, strong accents that she's faking, like the French one where the word rush was literally almost impossible to understand. So I do believe as everything these days, it's making use of some AI help probably to maybe figure things out from the context. I'm not sure how it works really, but what I do know is really effective. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me these questions.
