Speaker 1: Hello, my name is Casey Ferris. I make videos on DaVinci Resolve here on YouTube and today we are talking about the very easiest way ever to sync up audio. Now, I made a video that was just a little bit ago about a very easy way to sync audio, but this is even better. Don't believe me? Well, you just watch. Alright, so here we are in Resolve 17 and I have a bunch of media and a bunch of audio. This is from an upcoming project that's sort of secret. Don't worry about it. It's fine. But we have a whole lot of media here and all of it has NatSound recorded with a separate recorder, which is just miserable. You might be familiar with using something called Pluralize where you can throw all of this into a timeline and it will organize it and line it up for you. But let me show you kind of an alternative to that that's built right into Resolve 17. This is the coolest thing ever. OK, all of these clips just have the crappy audio from the camera and we can confirm that by just right clicking on any of them and going up to clip attributes. And under this second tab here, audio tab right here, we have embedded channel. That means that this is just the audio that was recorded on camera. And of course, if we play it back, we can't really hear anything because it's terrible. What we would normally have to do is do something like grab this clip and then find the piece of audio that goes with it, which is hopefully the first one, and then sync it up like this. Or if we know which one goes with which, we can select all of these, right click and say auto align clips based on waveform, which is super helpful. And you can totally do that. And that totally works. Let me show you. Let me show you this. I just I maybe you guys knew about this, but I just realized this the other day. You can take all of this media in your media pool, select all of it. You don't have to know what goes where or anything like that. Just select it all. Right click on any of them and go up to auto sync audio based on waveform. And it's going to say that it failed. Now, it did fail with a couple of these clips, but a lot of these are clips that actually don't have audio. There might be a couple of these that didn't work that totally should have. But check this out. Hit OK. And I open up another one of our clips here and bring this down. We actually have the real synced audio just added into this clip. So if I right click and go up to clip attributes and go to audio, we'll see it's actually linked with the clip that syncs with it. Isn't that freaking amazing? This is going to save so much time if you have a bunch of media that you just kind of willy nilly just recorded. Even if there's multiple video tracks to one audio track, it will line up the right audio with the right video for the most part. Of course, nothing's perfect, but man, this will save you a whole bunch of time. So now I can just take all of my audio and throw this into a timeline. And now we have our good footage. And it's pretty easy to tell if one of these didn't work and we can manually sync that. But we're manually syncing one or two clips instead of all of them. Pretty darn slick. Wasn't that nice? Told you. I told you. I told you. And dogs can look up.
