Speaker 1: Welcome to Prince William Public Libraries. This short video will highlight a few important resources that we have to help students, parents, and teachers navigate the transition to new schools and new workplaces. First things first, you'll need a library card. If you don't already have one, you can visit our website and follow the prompts to create a digital card. To get a physical library card, come into any of our full-service libraries with a valid photo ID that shows proof of your current address. Remember, if you're under 18, you'll need a parent or guardian to complete the registration. Once you have your library card, there are two types of resources you can access, physical materials and our digital library. Physical materials are things you can check out from a library branch, such as books, DVDs, and mobile hotspots. Our mobile hotspots provide free Wi-Fi service wherever you are. They can be checked out by patrons 18 or older for three weeks at a time. Our digital library provides free access to ebooks and audiobooks, newspapers and magazines, movies, and premium website subscriptions. Now let's read, listen, and watch in our digital library. To use Libby by Overdrive, download the app or visit our website to access thousands of ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines. All are available to check out and download electronically, and many of them can be converted to large font or open dyslexic font. Hoopla also has ebooks and audiobooks, plus music, movies, and TV shows. It works with most electronic devices using the app or website and can even stream to your smart TV. Access Video on Demand and Just for Kids Access Video are two of our favorite video resources, specializing in documentaries, educational videos, and popular children's programming. Not only can you search by subject or title, but you can even search by Virginia standards of learning and by grade levels. Now let's get ready to learn in our digital library. A great resource for students transitioning into preschool or elementary school is Early World of Learning, which focuses on early literacy. Aimed at pre-readers and emerging readers, these interactive videos, games, stories, and activities help teach phonetics and more. There's even a page for grown-ups where you can find educator tools. All navigational buttons, instructions, captions, and titles are automatically read aloud. Just for Kids Access Video has the educational videos children want to watch, Sesame Street, The Electric Company, Reading Rainbow, Daniel Tiger, and thousands more, plus songs, games, and other interactives that are sure to entertain, educate, and inspire young viewers. You can filter videos using the Browse Standards feature to search by Virginia standards of learning for each grade level starting with kindergarten, so you can always reinforce what your child is learning in the classroom. For students transitioning into middle school, high school, or the workforce, here are two helpful resources available to you. First, Peterson's Test Prep can improve your grades and test scores with homework help from middle and high school. Students can also work on practice tests for high school, college, and advanced degrees. You can also find schools, colleges, and universities, and available scholarships, get help with resumes and career choices, and prepare for vocational certifications, credentialing, and licensing. Learning Express Library also provides valuable test prep for high school and college exams, and offers skill-building resources in their school center. Elementary, middle, and high schoolers can find homework help in core subjects such as math, reading, writing, and social studies. Simply log into this resource using our digital library and create an account with your email address. So get started today by visiting our website at pwcgov.org library. Thanks for watching.
